“Perfect weekend amongst the autumn beauty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2011

A weekend getaway that left us feeling spoilt rotten!!... Beautifully furnished, clean rooms in a hotel who's staff were attentive, polite and helped to make our weekend to enjoy the fantastic autumn colours of westonburt arboretum an indulgent pleasure. The food in the restaurant, both at dinner and breakfast was of excellent standard and made more enjoyable by the relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff. We were extremely well looked after and we were incredibly impressed by the way the manager made us feel so welcome. Will definately be returning!!

Booked this place on LateRooms as an overnight stop on the way to Wales - we paid 60 quid and I think it's rated as a 3 star hotel.

Check in didn't start well with a girl ignoring us and then disappearing, not sending anyone to help - I think English was a second language. BUT, they pulled it back when we did get checked in and we had a pleasant stay from there on in.

Room was fine, we asked for a quiet one and got one at the back. Bed was large and comfy. Plenty of storage space with proper hangers - hairdryer and iron/ironing board stowed in wardrobe. Tea and coffee tray was provided with some nice, locally-made shortbread.

Bathroom was a bit small and a bit tired-looking but the shower was good and I liked the local toiletries which smelled gorgeous - lots of body lotion used!

We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, given the positive reviews on TA, and were pleased we did. The service and food was great and the room felt cosy with a good hum of conversation. I had a veggie pizza and boyfriend had a burger, plus a very decent Prosecco; the bill wasn't expensive for the portion sizes IMO. I liked reading all the info about the food provenance and I'm glad they're supporting local businesses - a definite selling point for me and something that's important in these tough times.

Breakfast was also nice and included in the price of the stay. Again, service was smiling, friendly and efficient.

We were very happy with what we got for the price we paid and they seemed to be attracting the locals for dinner and drinks as well as tourists, so well done to them for managing that; must be a sign of success.

The area is pretty and you can easily walk a minute or two into the centre of town. Visit Westonbirt Arboretum if you have a chance, it's beautiful!

Room Tip: Rooms at back of place are bound to be a little quieter as the hotel faces onto a road.

We have just visited for three nights. Our toddler was made to feel very welcome. The service is excellent. The staff are extremely helpful. This is a great place for children. The restaurant has pizzas and children's menu from 5pm and full menu from 6pm. This made it ideal for us to eat together. The food is top class and the restaurant and bar have a good atmosphere. The food is also very good value. Lots to do in the area and we hope to return some time.

Room Tip: We were in the family suite.

We found this establishment via booking.com so did not view their own website. The hotel is just round the corner from the main shopping street. On check-in it felt tired and a little unloved. The rooms are functional, akin to any travellodge, travelinn etc but way more expensive.(we paid £130 for one night) The room was clean, very hot and with a delightful view of the kitchen roof and a scruffy back yard! The room was so hot that we had to sleep with the window open and were treated to the sound of a fan running all night. Judging by the windows there are rooms that don't face the service area of the hotel which would give you a view of the car park - probably best to ask for one of these as it will probably be quieter.
Breakfast was ok. Advertised as all food coming from within 30mile radius but it wasn't memorable. The buffet element was almost empty when we came down only 30 minutes into serving time.
Having wandered through the main street of Tetbury we wished we had researched places to stay a little more thoroughly.

I'm getting ready to check out after being here for a week. I was in town for a class. This Inn isn't just charming, it's service is top notch. I'm traveling alone, and never once was I made to feel that way. The rooms are larger than one would expect by European standards. I felt like I was at home, in California. The staff went out of their way to ensure my comfort, and little details, like having your breakfast table ready when you come down in the morning, is simply standard to them, but made me feel very special. The decor is a cross between Contemporary Urban Organic meets Classic British Countryside. The art displayed is magnificent. I will be coming back twice next year, and there is no doubt that I will be staying here again.

Quick note about the food. You won't have a better muffin, pizza or steak in all of England. I spent a week in London prior to coming here, at all the posh places, and they didn't even compare. Not even close!

As for the pricing, it's a no-brainer. I looked at the more traditional hotels in the area, and after visiting them when I arrived, I'm glad I stayed at The Priory. They were lovely, but not as lively.

6 adults and one toddler stayed at this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble especially when it came to meal times for the toddler!

The rooms were large and clean and food excellent. Would certainly stay again if visiting the charming town of Tetbury.

Four of us stayed here for two nights over a weekend whilst attending an event locally and had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were fitted out to a high standard - but with compact bathrooms - and whilst not overlooking the road did have a view over the staff quarters and were perhaps too close to the kitchen for total comfort.

However, the charm of the Priory is its restaurant/bar. We had two excellent evening meals and were looked after extremely well by the attentive staff. We managed to exhaust their stocks of one particular wine on the first night, by the following evening a special effort had been made and stocks were replenished. This involved an early morning trip to Stroud market and was certainly above and beyond!

The food is excellent and reflects their determination to source locally. All in all an excellent base for exploring this part of the Cotswolds.

Room Tip: Avoid the views over the kitchens
