“Interesting temporary exhibitions”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

The museum is free and a good place to spend half an hour or so when strolling through the park it's situated in. The main displays are a little tired and need revamping but the temporary exhibitions are usually quite good.

“Good exhibits, friendly staff”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

I have been drawn back to this museum many times by the quality of the exhibitions. The latest 'must see' is Andy Goldsworthy-early Photographs, on show with other lovely images from PhotoStroud. This one closes on the 28th Oct 2012 so call in soon! There are links to the local flora and fauna and the autumn colour from the trees in the arboretum and ideas for half term for children to create their own artwork. The museum tells the story of the region around Stroud with lots of interesting stories and you can find out how the phrase 'to be on tenterhooks' began. The staff are very helpful and obviously enjoy coming to work.
if the weather allows, spend some time exploring in the park afterwards

“Really good regional museum”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

This is a really good museum in a regional town. I have visited many museums in cities (this is my field of work) with poorer interpretation than the Museum in the Park. I was kind of amused by some of the links made in some of the stories, though none probably wrong, but enjoyed that story telling nonetheless. The museum focussed on the surrounding area, and cleverly drew together stories around the artefacts it holds. Indeed, some of these artefacts in its collection are quite impressive.

I would like to spend more time on a future visit, but was unable to do so today as I was not expecting to find a museum of this calibre, and thus had no time.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The museum was well looked after and clearly there was a high level of ownership of all involved. Happy to recommend.

“Better than i expected”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

I liked that it was free to get in. My children loved the upstairs area - there is lots for them to explore and do. My youngest cried when we had to leave. Its well maintained and run by really friendly staff.
