Description: Sitting half way between Stroud and Nailsworth, this 250 year-old former coaching inn, built in the heyday of the Stroud wool industry, oozes rustic character and charm. The Old Fleece has a very relaxed and homely atmosphere and is run by a team of staff who are friendly, attentive and efficient. Enjoy the lively atmosphere of the popular terrace during the summer months and snuggle up next to our roaring fire when the nights draw in.

Welcomed warmly by Gonzalo, who was attentive and helpful, providing a wine tasting to help us chose a lovely Malbec (reasonably priced too), we felt immediately relaxed in the lovely environment of the pub/restaurant. We chose a sharing fish platter for a starter, and it was a delight - supplemented by garlic bread it was sufficient for four of us.
Mains of chicken burger, steak, hake fillet, and lamb shank were all excellent. the management team at the Fleece have established a well deserved reputation, and the number of diners on week nights underlines the quality of the kitchen.
The taster dessert with coffee is a great idea, and were a good indication of what you can expect if you have room for a full serving!

We have visited the Old Fleece on a number of occasions, both for lunch and dinner. We have always been well looked after. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the menu is sufficiently extensive to require some thought in making one's selection! This pub is in the same group as two other very good local eating places - The Britannia Inn in Nailsworth, and The Old Lodge on Minchinhampton Common. We are fortunate to have 3 such places so close to home. Our most recent visit to The Old Fleece was for a lunchtime snack, which was very good. It is easy to get to, being right on the main A46 road, and there is plenty of off-road parking available.
