Overall, the stay was very good. The communication prior to our stay was not. Numerous messages unanswered and emails ignored. However, once contact was made, confidence returned! We had booked five rooms - again, some better than others and quite pricey - I booked direct with the hotel. Parking was not straightforward but no great issue - it is on street parking. The hotel is old and quirky - an excellent venue for our group; very convenient and central. The welcome was excellent and the staff and food too. 12 of us had a dinner on the Saturday evening and it was superb, using their private dining room facility. Be aware that even as a resident, you have to abide by licensing laws and therefore cannot order a drink after hours. The hotel part I am assuming, is run by another franchise? Drinks cannot be put on your bill, but paid for at the time of purchase. Again, no great issue when you know.

We had booked this meal weeks before and were looking forward to it as it had received excellent reviews.

We were seated to our table and did have to wait longer than expected to have our order taken, so long that we knew what we wanted for the entire meal which the head waiter apologised for. We had ordered a few nibbles and a main, along with two drinks. The first of our nibbles arrived before receiving our drinks. We were left waiting on a bowl of olives which appeared to have been given to the table behind us as an apology for having to wait so long for their meal. A waiter did go and chase up our drinks however after waiting 10 minutes and that same waiter coming back to simply clear the table next to us and ignore us we decided we did not want to proceed with his meal and walked out.

They looked under staffed for a Saturday night. For the prices that were. Wing charged I refused to go along with this charade.

Would not recommend and will not be returning.

Fantastic food in a lovely building. Can't praise Sara and Ed highly enough when my aunt was taken ill in the restaurant. They dealt with the situation calmly and efficiently and despite all, we still managed to finish our meal with the best treacle tart ever.

Saw this place in an Instagram /Facebook Post - thought it looked nice - booked for a Sunday dinner!
Beautiful place. Modern, country decor but perfectly in keeping with the quirky old Inn character. Quiet Sunday evening but that was perfect for us. Food was amazing! The staff /chefs helped us create a bit of a mixed dinner, but they were more than happy to do so, and we both really appreciated it!!...
The cheese fondue sharer was one of the best dishes I've had out for a long time!!
Ashley looked after us really well. Very attentive and friendly.
We will definitely be back - planning on coming for a roast and relax Sunday evening stay!!
Thanks guys for a really lovely evening. X

Lovely place... great spot in a lovely village lots of shops for a wander and pubs for a few drinks - the friendly staff were very welcoming on arrival, and at dinner service. The beef on the Sunday roast was beautiful- served pink and could cut it with a spoon, rooms were really cosy and warm - also comfy beds which is a must. Great breakfast served from 8am, decent portion size and good options. We will definitely be returning! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Porch House ☺️
