We visited with the intention of having lunch and sat at a table which was free but was reserved from 1.30. It was 12.10 so thought it would give us plenty of time for a sandwich and a drink. We were told we couldn't sit at the table because it was reserved in over an hours time and the staff needed time to set it up. but it doesn't take long to lay a table(?). Suffice it to say we had our drink and left. The wine was some of the worst I'd ever had and it was disappointing. When all is said and done this is just a pub and although the food may be good the staff should be more welcoming to all customers.

Went two weeks ago, on a Friday evening, and although busy managed to get a table in the corner.
Service started well and was maintained throughout the evening, despite a large group who arrived at a similar time.
Chose one starter from the specials board, a tasty Lamb Kofta, and another from the main menu, a really good kedgeree.
Mains were equally delicious, slow cooked beef, and herb crusted poussin.
Can thoroughly recommend the Talbot, great food at reasonable prices, in a nice pub enviroment

Lovely pub in the centre of stow, went here for lunch last weekend, very nice lunch menu. The croque monsieur was delicious! Good atmosphere and reasonably priced. A definite recommendation

We always come for a drink in here when we visit Stow and this time booked in for an evening meal and were not let down. I had amazing vegetarian starter/main and my boyfriend had the meat and fish options and we both loved it! Wish I could eat the same tonight! Friendly helpful service made it all the better. We heard the lady behind us the night before when we were drinking in here saying the same comments so must be good!

Good service, friendly and efficient staff, who coped well on a very busy Friday evening. The food was plentiful, hot and appetising. It was extremely busy but nothing was too much trouble
