Stayed at this hotel on a 2 day business workshop. At some point on day 1 a robber came in to the hotel and entered our workshop room during lunch while we were in the restaurant and stole money and my credit/debit cards from my wallet. I didn't realise this until late that night by which time my bank account had £11,000 taken. Thankfully (after a lot of hassle) this was refunded by my bank, but not the £250 that was taken from my wallet. I was very disappointed by the lack of communication, sympathy or even compensation from the hotel management during the aftermath as well as the key facts that no warnings were given and that the room was not locked while we were away from it.
I and my company will never use Wyck Hill House Hotel again and wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed for one night and had a number of rooms.
This hotel is a large country house and as such the rooms are very different in size and comfort, but not the price. Getting the best room is a bit of a lottery.
Staying in the house makes you feel like you might be an historic house guest. There are eccentricities by the yard. The temperature in the house varies from one room to the next and can be quite cool to uncomfortably hot.
The bedrooms are a good size but for the lap of luxury why have plastic beakers in the bathroom.
The common rooms are pleasant enough. The bar and bar service was quite variable.
It's difficult to find real fault but the variable nature offered a lot of talking points.
The restaurant was fabulous and their is clearly a chef who can cook.
The room itself ,the conservatory ,offers a very comfortable and delightful setting. The waiting staff were excellent.
Breakfast was very good too.
Reception went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The location offers great country walks and the grounds are beautiful
There is just something that's difficult to articulate.

The hotel needs a guiding light a designer touch to right some of the inconsistencies and maximise some of the undersold values.

Room Tip: Try 25 in the main house

Perfect place for a quite time. This hotel is perfectly situated on a hill with an amazing view.

We spent out last 2 nights in England here - and very happy we did. The location was perfect and very easy to get around to see some of the sites.

The decor of the hotel was very Old English - and made you feel at home. Complete with cozy bar, library, and fire places. The staff were all extremely pleasant and very helpful.

The room. What can I say. From the moment I saw this hotel on TripAdvisor I knew it would be comfortable. As we all are familiar with the smallness of most hotel rooms in England and throughout Europe. Finding the Wyck Hill House with a large hotel room; proper king size bed, sitting area with 2 comfortable retro chairs and a 40" LCD.

The bathroom was very nice and modern with grey slate tile, bathtub with half glass door, nice white porcelain sink. I was happy. Here is the however- turning on the bath tube took some doing. Trying to figure out how to turn on the shower, and then properly adjust the hot/cold water took some doing. I would say skip the fancy and go with something easier to use with a classy classic style. This won't subtract from my 5 star rating.

We didn't use the spa facilities. Maybe I should give this a 4 star due to the fact that this is a spa hotel and there was no workout facility. I would expect a hotel and spa to have a gym. But I am going to keep my 5 star rating on this due to the pleasant experience we had, the fantastic location, and the exemplary service.

We had one dinner in the bar area - which was good. Breakfast was good as well and made to order.

When you find yourselves passing through the Cotswolds - pay a visit to the Wyck Hill House and you will be extremely happy you did.

Parking - yes there is plenty of spaces.

Great location, fabulous views. Very spacious room and huge beds. Didn't try the spa etc. Breakfast in the conservatory was great. Quiet place to enjoy leisure time off the beaten track. Staff very helpful.

Hot & stuffy in the room but managed to open the windows. Spa etc was a bit pricey so didn't go there! A few creaks & groans at night but it is an old house and there was a boozy wedding party the night we were there.

Room Tip: Choose a room higher floors up for beautiful views and less noise.

We have just returned from 3 nights it was to celebrate our 10th Anniversary, The hotel is lovely and is very near to boughton in the water The grounds are beautiful and well kept. the room was very spacious and was decorated in a contemporary style. The bathroom was large, clean and everything worked. we had one meal in the restaurant and it was delicious and very well presented. the staff were very polite and attentive at all times and whilst there is'nt always a barman in the bar someone does pop in to check so a little patience doesn't hurt sometimes. Overall I thought this was excellent value for money.
some info for any wheelchair users . access There is a step as you go into reception and you would have to have someone open the second door. If you stay in the garden rooms there is parking and access via another door. You would also need someone to open the double door. the room access is fine and you can get the wheelchair in the bathroom and turn round. the toilet is very close to the sink the shower over the bath is controllable whilst in the bath.

We had a beautiful, large room in the original part of the building with our daughter in the next, similarly delightful room, so that we could get ready together for her wedding day. The ceremony was held here next day (but reception held elsewhere so I cannot really comment on the whole wedding package).

I would recommend the hotel for it's location, views, style and ambience. I felt that the staff were a little too 'laid back' but perhaps that was a reflection of us being the opposite! However, we couldn't help but notice how long crockery, glasses etc. were left uncollected in various places around the hotel - maybe a small detail to some but long enough (hours) to be annoying to us. However, if you are considering Wyck Hill as a wedding venue I would say that it really is very photogenic!

Reading others reviews I can't help feel we were just unlucky here with our experiences.
The grounds and the hotel are beautiful, the room was very clean, spacious and comfy bed.
The wi-fi seemed to work intermittently but was very poor with our Samsung tablet which made planning our day trips a real pain- if we had known we could have done this in advance. We were advised that an ipad will work well, but my i phone didn't work at all in the building. You may think this is not the end of the world in a spa hotel but it is not good when people want to privately keep in touch with their e mails and work or its pouring with rain and you need to find indoor activities to do in the locality. The television worked on and off and in spite of staff rebooting several times things didn't improve, so no listening to radio or watching the news.
The hotel ran out of coffee satchets and only had de-caff, they did say we could order room service, but its not the same when you first wake up asking for room service. We did a couple of times in the evening while getting ready to go out but by the time they have brought it you are ready to leave. Not sure why they didn't just purchase some larger jars and decant into something smaller for each room.
Going into the lift became a slightly unpleasant experience with the essential oils from those who had had a spa treatment leaving a cloying perfume hanging in the air and all over the lift buttons. Not what you want to smell when you are dressed up ready for your evening out. Incidentally the spa closed at 6pm, so no use of spa on day of arrival unless you get there early.
The staff seemed few and far between and at 9.30 there was no one to serve drinks in the bar- not even a coffee given the lack of satchets in the room.
In summary I would say this hotel has been resting on its reputation and has perhaps let things slide a little to far to justify their 4 star status. It was such a shame as our stay was a present from our children but it was still a nice break and we enjoyed the area.
