“1st Class”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

!st Class. The room; the location; the staff; the food; everything. A bit surprised that the night concierge and breakfast waitress wore jeans but it really didnt spoil a lovely weekend break. The room was very recently decorated etc but beautiful. Quiet. Clean. Stylish etc. One of the best hotels i have stayed in. Diners with more knowledge than me might criticise the wine list but it was certainly good enough for me. Lamb and Venison main courses were beautiful.

First and Foremost, we'd like to thank Caroline, for her efforts in making our stay comfortable and welcoming. Number Four is a relaxing boutique hotel for a weekend getaway. The Cutlers restaurant was obvious that the chef took pride in his menu. Noelia was our server and she was outstanding in presenting our meal to us as well as engaging us in a welcoming way. Exceptional evening in Cutlers.

A note, it would be best to have a car due to the surrounding areas being extensive. Taxis are expensive and few of them. The walk to Stow was lovely through the gate, the hotel will advise you to go, A must see. Make sure to check if attractions, such as castles and stores are open and their hours of operation.

In Stow, "The Bell At Stow" restaurant is also a must.

We again thank the staff of Number Four and would recommend it specifically for the care they take in making sure your stay is comfortable.

Room Tip: A suite is large.

We hope you enjoyed the remainder of your trip to England and had a safe journey home. Thank you very much for your compliments. We have passed these on to the staff, in particular Noelia, and this is always much appreciated. We now look forward to your return visit and to welcoming you both back to our hotel very soon.

With warm regards

We have just returned from a great three night break....it's lovely place to stay ...at what was our first ever visit to the Cotswold's. We couldn't fault the friendly staff, warm welcome and real attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in Cutlers restaurant is exceptional, (Brian's chocolate fondant is pure heaven)..the only slight improvement in our opinion would have been some music in the evenings in the restaurant and bar areas. So good we have booked for next year. Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms are an excellent standard, room 102 is quiet with great views

We have just returned from Number Four after a very pleasant overnight stay.

The rooms were spotless with very good bedlinen and wonderful thick towels, bathsheets and bathtowels. Double duvets were available on request but we rather liked the individual ones. The room was at the back of the hotel with a good view and no road noise. To say the room was 'cosy' is possibly an understatement, but then there is nothing that can be done about that.

The whole ambience of the hotel was lovely and the staff were very attentive at all times. We ate in the restaurant and had an excellent evening meal. Breakfast the following day was really good with fresh juices, an extensive choice of buffet food and a good cooked breakfast.

As a 'hotel' some people may think there are some short comings but then it is a very small hotel, only 18 rooms, so you can't expect the facilities of a large hotel. As a restaurant with rooms it works really well. An excellent restaurant with good quality accomodation, if somewhat 'cosy'.

We would definately choose Number Four when we visit the area again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back seem to be quieter. Choose a suite for space.

I am not usually the type to write reviews about placed however I feel this place deserved one :)

I booked a weekend away for me and my other half for christmas and after deciding on the cotswolds I found no4 at stow..

The room we had was a suite and it was lovely and warm, very modern and also clean. The ONLY criticism of the room (203) was having an annoying ticking noise/water noise coming from the roof which I can only assume was water pumps etc however it wasn't very often so didn't bother us.

The hotel itself was really nice, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and nothing seemed too much trouble. The main restaurant was yet again modern and the food was something else.. I HIGHLY recommend trying the restaurant and the veal was by far the best I have had. I was told the food is all prepared fresh and sourced locally which is evident by the outstanding dishes :)

The hotel has plenty of parking and is nice and local to many of the surrounding villages. Overall I would recommend it to anyone thinking of taking a trip to the cotswolds!

If I would have to make one criticism it would be that the bar at night needs some sort of music, although the atmosphere is lovely due to the lighting and decor it has too much of a "quiet" feeling to it like everyone is whispering and not talking due to no background music.. however that is the ONLY complaint I can make :) I will definitely be revisiting if I am ever around the again.

Thank you for a lovely weekend!

Room Tip: if you have a suite, potentially avoid 203 due to occasional pump/water noises above the ceiling.

3rd time stay and thoroughly enjoyed it (again). We always look forward to the friendly welcome we've come to expect, and we weren't disappointed. The suite was the same one we asked for last time, immaculately clean and tidy with all mod-cons with an array of ambient lighting. It was just SOO good to just chill out, glass of wine, peace and quiet and we even managed a few games of canasta. The evening meal in the restaurant was fabulous as always, the staff impecable, the food amazing, and my favourite French chardonnay was still on the wine list. I was also given a special Birthday dessert as a surprise. 100% pamper! Their full English breakfast the next morning, must be a benchmark to compare all others, again something I had been looking forward to for weeks...every component from the sausage, black pudding slice to the perfect fried egg and bacon was sublime (which left us pleasantly full, but not stuffed). We're looking forward to returning in the summer to enjoy all this again outside on their decking overlooking the Cotswolds.

It is always a pleasure to welcome back our regular guests and we are so pleased you had another memorable stay particularly as it was your birthday!

As always thank you so much for posting your comments on Trip Advisor, very much appreciated. We will be putting the garden furniture out on the patio in the next few weeks in anticipation of a good Spring and Summer so you can look forward to some Al Fresco dining on your next visit!

We look forward to welcoming you both back soon.

Really lovely hotel, staff very attentive and friendly, food was excellent. Just outside Stow but not a problem and lovely countryside. Good central position for cotswolds. Would definitely recommend. With thanks.
