Number Four at Stow Hotel & Restaurant
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 17, 2011

My daughter and I spent two nights at Number Four on Stow using it as a base for exploring the Cotswolds and beyond. The accommodation was of a high standard - clean, well presented and very comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and cannot speak more highly of the quality of the food and the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. It was a delightful experience. The location was convenient with good parking. Without exception, the staff in both the hotel and restaurant were friendly but professional and mad made us feel relaxed and at ease.

No. 4 is a gem of an hotel, and we cannot speak highly enough of the quality of the experience and the service offered by the exceptional staff. The restaurant is top notch, with all our meals cooked and served to a very high standard. The 6ft bed was very good, but inevitably made the room a bit tight, and the 'open' wardrobe would not be to everyone's liking, but these are very minor comments in what was a very enjoyable 6 night stay at a quality hotel where the service ethos is very strong. I would not hesitate recommending it to anyone.

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Number 4. We opted for the package which included a 3 course meal, accommodation and breakfast.

Accommodation wise the hotel is elegantly decorated, spotlessly clean and the hotel representatives are all very polite, professional, helpful and just lovely. Bar prices and rates are competitive and fair for the quality of the meal included in our package and the breakfast, not mention our room. I am a fussy customer and was impressed with the comfort of the bed, the quality of the linen and the comfort of the room. All excellent.

Food wise the atmosphere is friendly but you feel you are having a lovely evening out. The starter and main courses were gorgeous and the pudding was even better. The chocolate pave was exceptional! We had excellent service and just the quality of produce (even served at breakfast) stands out. Breakfast was a great start to a walking filled day, with lovely fresh croissants and toast then a great English breakfast.

Finally the location was great, just down the road from the market square (2 mins drive) and very good for the various footpaths. We walked to Lower Slaughter, beautiful scenary, lovely people (we passed one couple, in the same field, on our way to and from Lower Slaughter who were lovely). This particular walk was recommended by the owner of hotel and was a welcomed suggestion.

Overall just a fabulous break, made so by Number 4, great staff, great food and lovely setting. If you look on a map you'll see the hotel is on main road, we were in room 106 and heard not a peep from any passing traffic and furthermore found the road really useful as you can get to the surrounding areas really easily and quickly from the hotel, there is also ample parking at the hotel.

Will be going back!

We were staying just down the road and selected the restaurant after reading the reviews on Trip advisor. We were not disappointed. The food, setting and staff were all excellent and made for a fantastic evening.

Service was excellent and attentive without being 'pushy', staff were very polite and helpful.
The room was comfortable, but the in-room fridge was noisy and we had to turn it off at night to get some sleep.
The location was very pleasant and near enough to Stow for us to be tourists and eat out there, also road access to the Cotswolds (Bath and Stonehenge) was good.
The restaurant had a good and wide-ranging menu, we would try it again.

Room Tip: Room 108, little traffic noise, but a noisy fridge!

We had a lovely weekend in the Cotswolds and Number Four proved a great base for our walk. The staff were friendly and helpful and the meal service excellent. The room was not large, but very clean and pleasant.

We stayed about a week at Number Four while our house was being renovated. An excellent experience. A family owned friendly hotel with a well trained professional staff. Housekeeping personnel went the extra mile by tidying up after us as well as the usual cleaning chores. Food was excellent and the menu varied and imaginative. The servers very attentive.

Hotel is managed by two sisters who do an excellent job in providing their guests with personalized and friendly assistance. The hotel has been newly renovated in a tasteful manner. Parking is plentiful and secure.
