“Comfortable & Cosy in the Cotswolds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2011

We chose this accommodation based on Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. Our hosts were welcoming and accommodating - they had no trouble assisting us with requests such as blankets instead of a doona for the bed, etc. Our room, the Hornbeam, was gorgeous and it, and the bathroom, were of a luxury standard. The view from our room over the surrounding countryside was lovely (see photo).
Minor quibbles: the breakfast was the same every morning and got a bit boring by the 4th morning; the shower was torrential - like standing under a waterfall - a bit too heavy for me, but maybe the British like it like that.
Overall, Mole End was a good central location for touring the Cotswolds, with charming hosts and lovely accommodation. We would stay again.

As with every other bed and breakfast we know, at Mole End we offer a choice for breakfast. This couple chose the same thing everyday, so it was entirely their choice to to keep it the same each morning during their stay.

While on a 2 week vacation in the UK, we (2 couples) spent four wonderful days in Stow-on-the-Wold at beautiful Mole End.
How kind it is of Jane and her family to share their lovely home with travelers from all over the world. We always enjoy this opportunity to share travel tips with fellow travelers in a lovely setting over a delicious breakfast.
Our rooms, Hornbeam and Beech were as beautiful as they appear on their website. The smooth comfy bed linens were such a treat.
Jane is a wonderfully cordial hostess, who made us feel at home at all times, beginning with her full English breakfast served each morning in the sunny dining room.
We enjoyed wine on the patio with the new puppy entertaining us and the two horses in the paddock. Such a tranquil atmosphere!
The Cotswolds (loved Broadway) is a scenic area in the UK to visit and if you plan to pass through these quaint little villages, try to spend some time at Mole End. You will treasure the memory.

A beautiful home and providing an excellant service. I was born in a village close by and came back to revisit. Yes the price of rooms are at the top end but I have stayed in many five star hotels and not had a clean room and comfy bed, or great breakfast, well worth that little extra for an excellent stay. Stow is a wonderful litle village with many quaint shops and vast amount of history, if one wishes to find out about it, especially the stocks in the centre. Put Bourton-on-the-Water on your list to see but go early as the car parks get full. Lower Slaughter is a beautiful, mostly unspoil tiny village which is a must to visit, also the gift shop around the back (the old bakery) sells wonderful ice cream. A truly wonderful stay back in the country side.

Room Tip: White cotton sheets and comfy bed

Mole End is an excellent place to base yourself to explore the Cotswolds. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. The beach room we stayed in was spacious and luxurious overlooking the paddock which housed their horses. The breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Forget hotels, this is place to stay as you won't get a better room even in a 5 star hotel. Really enjoyable and relaxing stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed 2 nights at Mole End in Stow-on-the-Wold starting Fri 25 Feb 2011.
The owner was very welcoming without being overbearing.
Our room - Hornbeam - was large, warm and reasonably well appointed with an eclectic mix of furniture.
One word of warning though.
Men with a mains powered razor will need a very long mains lead or a small mirror on a stand...
The shaver adapter is located in a cupboard underneath the sink!
The bed was very comfy and the room was quiet with no intrusive road noise.
Our cooked breakfasts were excellent as was the hosts service.
Just note that there was only museli or cornflakes and there didn't appear to be any fruit.
Noise did carry throughout the house so try to be quiet!

We stayed in Mole End this weekend and had a wonderful stay. The house was absolutely beautiful and the Hornbeam room where we stayed was lovely, comfortable, clean and in immaculate condition. The Harwoods were great hosts and very welcoming and Jane gave us some useful tips on where to visit in the area.

I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and will go back if we visit Stow again.

We came from PA to visit our daughter who was studying abroad in London. We rented a car at Heathrow where we met our daughter and made a leisurely sight-seeing trip to Stow. We were pretty exhausted upon arrival. Jane greeted us so warmly and showed us to our rooms. We had the gorgeous "Hornbeam" and our daughter had the "Sweet Chestnut". We felt like the King and Queen and our daughter felt like the princess. Perfection. Beauty. Privacy. Quiet. Luxury. We felt like we had the entire upstairs to ourselves. Jane and Trevor were such wonderful hosts. Breakfast was very special. Served on beautiful china with fine linen napkins. Delicious Eggs, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Fresh Fruit, the special grain cereal and yogurt, toast, sausage and bacon (sever like cooked ham slices) and wonderful jam and french pressed coffee- yum!!! What a beautiful way to start the day. Jane and Trevor were always available to answer questions, give suggestions and lend a road map or umbrella. We also had to great pleasure of meeting Toby, a son who was visiting for the weekend. A very delightful family! Visiting England was never a priority for us until our daughter was over there, but after visiting Mole End and the beautiful Cotswolds, we cannot wait until our next trip over. We had three full days of sight seeing in the beautiful Cotswolds, walking and walking everywhere. It was exhilarating and tiring on the feet! There was no better feeling than falling into the dreamy bed of fluff with the gorgeous fine linens dried in the country sunshine as we experienced at Mole End. Thank you Jane and Trevor-the most extraordinary Innkeepers.
