On the A46 outside Painswick next to a lane going up to the Beacon (great views). Come down and have a lovely meal in an old Inn. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ask the Bar staff for anything and they make the effort. Enjoyed my sizzling steak on a hot volcanic platter cook to your own taste. Will go agian when next in the area.

This is such a lovely place. We were here for a family get together, and the occasion couldn't have been better.
We arrived (4 adults and two children) for a late lunch, without a booking, and they were really very accommodating.

There was a large selection of food, including a very reasonably priced children's menu. The food was good, not Michelin starred, but very good value for the price, which is what we expected and had hoped for. We ate everything, which says it all.

There was an excellent selection of good local beers, which really pleased the non-drivers.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very friendly, patient, and efficient. Very, very good at responding appropriately to the children.

The restaurant was beautifully done out. This is a very old pub, on a lovely road between Cranham and Painswick. There are two large car parks. Seating outside for sunny days (when summer arrives!).

I used to come here when I was a child, and it brought back many happy memories. Sadly I no longer live nearby, otherwise I'd be a regular. Many, many thanks to the staff and management for helping to make another happy memory for us.

Came here on the bank holiday weekend and had a dreadful meal.

The starter was mussles, most of them had been broken which meant having to pick out bits of shell each time. Worst mussels I have had which is a shame as they had potential. I mentioned this to the waiter but he didnt seem to be bothered.

The chicken pie was dry and overcooked also. The chips were good though.

Better pubs around for sure

We needed somewhere to take Mother-in-law for a special meal for her 80th Birthday. We chose this place because a nice homecooked menu. When we went to visit before hand the staff could not have been more helpful - nothing was too much trouble. I was worried our young children would be a pain but assured by the staff we booked in. It was a lovely occasion - Mother-in-law loved the food, as did we!! We will definately go back soon. :-)

ps if you like cheese try the cheese and biscuits instead of dessert - local and yummy!

We as a family visited the pub on Easter Sunday in the hope of getting a table, it was later in the day and when we arrived we were welcomed and found a table for all of us to sit comfortably! (6 of us)
The bar and waiting staff were very pleasant and cheerful even though they were run off there feet! We all ordered our meals ranging from Sunday roast to swordfish! The meals arrived in adequate time and were lovely and flavoursome! Have been here many times and will be going again many more times as always made to feel welcome and nothing is ever too much trouble.
