“Busy Bistro Hits the Spot”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

We were attending a funeral (church opposite) over 450 people attending service. We agreed to meet friends at The Falcon . Naturally it was v v busy - but they coped well and accommodated us changing numbers at the table. Food was great. Hard to judge atmosphere as we all there for a sombre occasion .
Has a car park which in Painswick is an advantage!

“Take heed if they mention that a funeral party will be there”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

I was looking for a place where I could take my Mum for a really nice meal in Painswick that was also dog-friendly. The Falcon Inn seemed to foot the bill. If they mention when booking that there is going to be a funeral party there at the same time, take heed and go on another day. The party completely filled the place and were so noisy that I couldn’t hold a conversation with my Mum without having to shout and lean forward to hear what she was saying. I had imagined that there would be about 20 sombre people. I must say that the food was very nice and so was the décor but our dining experience was completely ruined by this funeral party. After our main meal, when we asked to see the desert menu, we were warned by the waiter that it could be a long wait but no-one even bothered to come back to take our order, they were so busy with the party so we dicided to leave. I feel that the management should have anticipated this and warned me that it would be like this. Very disappointing on this occasion.

We had a delightful surprise when we found this restaurant. Service worthy of a much higher priced place and the food was delish. Highly recommended.

“Quick drink - book early for food”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Stopped by as they were full for food so had a quick drink. The staff were engaging as were the locals and as they had said - there were a lot of people in the pub having supper. Would like to have tried the food as it was so well booked out so book early!

“Lovely food but a bit slow”

A great menu and fantastic food but you will have to be patient. Advisable to book as it does get busy.
