“Really nice bar and restaurant”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

Have eaten here every time we have visited Painswick, since it was refurbished.

Food is really good and varied, friendly staff and nice beers.

Well worth a visit.

“Just good pub food in cosy surroundings”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

The food at the Falcon certainly isn't exceptional or fancy, but it is very good. The pub itself is simply decked out, with a range of local beers to choose from and a good wine list. We shared a baked camembert, and I chose a steak whilst my boyfriend went for a whole guinea fowl from the specials. Steak was cooked really well, and though the guinea fowl was a little dry it was well-seasoned with a range of good accompaniments.

“Not for a foodie”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

Food was not at all to my taste. Melted cheese on a Sheppard’s pie, a whole roasted camembert, bread tasting of cardboard, fish swimming in oil.
Staff was nice and tolerant, even though they didn't know how to make a martini (that's a bit much to ask of a pub in the countryside, I guess).

An original menu, well-cooked food and excellent service. So nice to find a lovely, cosy and welcoming pub with interesting food.

“An exception”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

We found British pub food generally to be quite appalling. It was great to strike a pub where a genuine attempt at quality cuisine was being made by owner and chef. The dining room was full every night and justifiably so. We had terrific meals each night at a reasonable price.
