My wife and I stayed in Painswick a couple of months ago. Whilst we didn't stay in the Falcon Inn, we ate here on five occasions - for both lunch and dinner. At the time, the very congenial landlord, David, had only taken over the establishment a few weeks earlier. He was very determined to turn an ugly duckling into a swan, as the pub had some legacy issues.
We were deeply impressed with the food and wine and the beer was kept exceptionally well. The food is generally tradional pub fare - but done very well, which is often hard to find. The tradional Sunday lunch was truly excellent, with generous portions and great value.
David is a lovely chap and his obvious enthusiam combined with a career spent in this business will ensure this will very quickly become a very popular venue - both for locals and those who will come far afield. We will definitely come back and would not hesitate to recommend the Falcon Inn. We believe the best is still yet to come.
