We stumbled across this lovely restaurant quite by chance as we were seeking refuge from a torrential downpour-what a find!! The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We had the fish and chips(excellent chips and the other table were also oohing and ahhing over them as well!) and the chicken pie. Oh my! The chicken was the the most tender chicken I have ever eaten -sublime!! The veg were all fresh and everything was prepared fresh on the spot. The restaurant has a lovely feel, friendly staff, a good menu and a great chef. This little gem is well worth a visit -you will not be disappointed. Well worth a visit!!

A group of us had a selection of tapas on Suday lunchtime. Most other dinners in this small restaurant had the buffet roast. The tapas were excellent. Hot, good flavours, reasonable quantities. Very friendly and helpfull staff. A little gem of a place. Booking any restaurant in Painswick advisable as town busy with tourists and wedding groups

On our last night in Painswick, we thought we would try JK's, especially as the vegetarian menu posted outside the resataurant looked pretty enticing.

Big mistake. The service was indifferent. The food was, frankly, pretty terrible. I ordered the baked figs with blue cheese - the figs were unripe and consequently, tasteless.

The mushroom and spinach crepe was unavailable so I opted for the aubergine and coconut korma. The aubergine was not properly cooked. The rice was not properly cooked. The poppadum was flobbily. The korma sauce was tasteless.

My husband chose much more wisely. His pate was fine and his lamb shank was, evidently, very agreeable.

Maybe this is a place for very conservative eaters with no idea of service? Such a shame as it could have been lovely....

We came across this quaint little restaurant by chance when passing through the village. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was absolutely outstanding. Our every need was catered for and we will certainly be returning. Would highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
