Brilliant location for exploring from. Shops and restaurants on the doorstep. Comfy beds and spotlessly clean.

“The Place to Stay in Moreton in Marsh for Extended Stay”
Reviewed July 4, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Three of us, senior citizens, stayed in Moreton in Marsh for 7 nights. We chose Moreton after deciding to vacation without a vehicle what with the train station and bus service easily available for use. Researched places to stay and found The Cottage to be the answer, located right in town, having just what we needed for a long stay (including a clothes washer/dryer unit which for some reason isn't mentioned on their site nor shown in the photos), and at a very reasonable nightly rate. It fulfilled all of our needs and we would definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

A couple of notes. High Street can be very busy with traffic in the morning. With the windows closed we weren't disturbed by the noise even with the bedroom that 2 of us used being on the street side of the cottage. Unfortunately we visited during a UK heatwave and did need to open the windows at night, but we somewhat got used to the morning noise. A small price to pay for the excellent location - minutes from anything in town. The second bedroom is on the back side with no traffic noise at all. The only negative is that the living area sofa and chair need to be replaced. Their best days have long since passed with the padding about shot and somewhat difficult to get up from. It's because of the furniture that I've downgraded the stay from 5 stars to 4, but 4-1/2 would be closer to our actual experience.

Lives up to it's name, it really is a lovely little cottage and in a great location. Very good base from which to explore the Cotswolds, and has all the rustic charm you hope for in an English country cottage.

“Perfect blend of the old and the new”
Reviewed July 15, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Three of us friends (a couple and me) were in Moreton in Marsh for a wedding that was held across the street at the Manor House, so this was a convenient location. Even with the owner's excellent instructions on how to use the key box to get into the cottage, we did not realize that the key box actually contained the key, we kept thinking we'd tap in the numbers and the door would unlock! DUH!! We spent 20 minutes figuring it out, and once we did, we felt VERY stupid--but we had never seen such a thing before. As Americans, we loved staying in an old, old row house (not what we would consider a "cottage"), with stone floors, wood beams, and a massive fireplace. The living room, modern kitchen and a modern bathroom with a big shower (off the kitchen), were on the main floor. Up the stairs were two very small bedrooms (not an issue for those of us who pack light, but for those who don't. . . !!), then up another flight to a charming 1/2 bath in the attic. Off the kitchen, also, was a small patio that we enjoyed. Super location, we walked everywhere to pubs, restaurants, and shops. The kitchen included a combination washer-dryer, and when we inadvertently damaged it when we attempted to open the door before it was done drying, the owner quickly had it repaired and did not charge us. Whew! We loved how the structure of the building was exposed (purposely!) in several places--fascinating! We would have loved it if the owner had a sheet of paper explaining the history of the house. The Brits take "old" for granted, but we Americans are fascinated by the history of buildings and would have liked to know how old it was. There was a good DVD collection, though we had no time to view them, some books and travel info next to the fireplace, too. Moreton-in-Marsh is a super town, with easy access from/to Paddington Station. In addition to enjoying the village, we all loved walking on the public footpath to the Batsford Arboretum, and we also enjoyed Hidcote Gardens and The Secret Cottage Tour. And the wedding was gorgeous and happy, too!!

Very comfortable cottage that my sister and I have visited twice, and hopefully will do so again. Welcome package left which was much appreciated. Although right on the high street had no trouble parking outside and was still peaceful.

“Wonderful cottage, great location"”
Reviewed July 13, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Had a really nice stay at the High Street Cottage. Wonderfully located and very comfortable, more than enough room for the four of us. Near everything we needed in town and very cute. Would definitely recommend!
