Arrived early for lunch and spent a lovely hour with newspapers, roaring fire and coffee. Lunch itself was delicious - well presented, just the right size portions and lovely flavours. Can't comment on accommodation as we were only visiting for lunch.

Room Tip: Didn't stay - only visited for lunch

Just passing by this Hotel which looks charming from road around 2pm.
Thought we would have a spot of lunch and we were not disappointed.
Were sat in the Conservatory area, which was very cosy, bright and great decor, as well as charming staff.
Set lunch for around 14 to 16 pounds, which was a bargain for beautifully cooked food, which was freshly cooked and nice and hot.
Desert was sublime, dark chocolate homemade torte/cake with ice cream !!

My wife & I attended a friends 60th Birthday party, there were 40 of us in total and we all had the three course Sunday lunch, which was very good, considering the numbers being served all at once, congratulations to all the staff involved. We stayed in a superior room (16) which was excellent, okay, the arms of the chairs had seen better days, but overall our stay was very enjoyable and we will be returning in the near future with friends. The level of service for our entire stay was excellent.

We stayed here for 2 nights over the New Year and had a fantastic time. The hotel was warm and friendly with excellent service from its staff. The food was wonderful and very well presented. The room was small but full of character.. unfortunately ours was very hot all night and my goodness, the mattress was awful. Why on earth do hotels get this so wrong? One hopes when paying quite an amount of money for a good nights rest one might actually get that but it so infrequently happens. Our bed was hard, bouncy and high. We both woke up many times during the night and had painful backs for a few days. Unfortunately it did rather mar what was a really super time.

Thank you for your kind words and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with us.

New Year was a fantastic success and a lot of that is down to the guests that attend and help create the righ atmosphere.

I was sorry to hear that the bed wasnt comfortable for you. As you would expect we have a rolling replacement programme for matresses and we also let a lucky member of management sleep in varying rooms every now and again just to double check comfort levels.

We invest heavily in the 'sleep stage' of your experience with us as we truly believe that this should be the basis of any good hotel or bed and breakfast. Goose and Duck feather pillows and duvets accompany luxury linen and high quality matresses in order to achieve this.

It is only a shame I cannot identify you in order to work out which room you were in and I could investigate further. If you would be so kind to get in touch, it would be appreciated. Thank you once again.

Had a beautiful lunch for our wedding anniversary today with our two children

We have been a few times before and have never been disappointed
.
There is a fixed price menu but we chose from the main menu

Everything was cooked superbly and we can be hard to please being in the same trade.

Thankyou for such an enjoyable lunch

Beautiful and ye olde worldy from the front, very warm and welcoming reception, Loved the creaky quirky stairway to our room (#16). Gorgeous double aspect room, loooove the molten brown toiletries and fancy coffee and biscuits! Great reading material, just gorgeous room, very relaxing and not stuffy and hot like modern hotels. Might have felt cool to some people, but I hate being hot and stuffy. Great view over the gardens, quiet, I could honestly not find fault in the room! (oh ok, one tiney tiny one, as of course I am picky......there was Sellotape over the armrest of one of the chairs, just leave it threadbare, like the other one, it's authentic!)
Staff could not do enough for us, finding us playing cards, paper, pens, drinks from the bar to our table, lovely food in the bar, just polite, discreet etc. real nice.
Breakfast in the morning was just delicious, great conservatory and ambiance, lovely smoked salmon and eggs.
Hotel is in a great location, just perfect for a night away from our little people!!
Oh, nearly forgot to mention the log fires......ahhhhhhh, luuuurvvvvvellllyy!!!!! I think I was slowly cooking,so we moved in the end, but wow, what a way to relax when wet and cold outside!
Defo recommend and I suspect we may be back!! Thank you! X

Room Tip: Room 16 lovely!
