“Good value for money with friendly staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2011

The visit was most enjoyable, with very good service and an excellent food quality. The rooms were very tidy and clean although the decor was a little tired. The double radiator could not heat the room adequately although we were given a fan heater to compensate.
We would recommend this Hotel, most noteably for its family run and friendly, helpful service, and superb standard of country cuisine.

Me and my Partner booked our stay at the Bull Inn for the weekend through a deal being operated by the News of the World, we paid £20pppn and stayed for 2 nights, our friends also took advantage of the deal and came as well...
The hotel looks fantastic from the outside, but when inside, it looks very dated and in need of a lot of refurbishment, the furniture looked like it had seen better days, the walls were woodchip and the carpet looked like something from the 70's! We spoke to a local gentleman in a pub in the village who told us that the owner had made a lot of money on the hotel from big contracts and never reinvested.......this seemed sad as the hotel has a lot of charachter and potential.....having said that, during our stay the staff were very friendly, and although very dated the hotel was very clean.

Loved going to the Bull for a pint or two (or three). Was there from 26 Aug 1983 until about the 25th of Oct. Michael took very good care of us and I often wonder how he is. I think the cooks name was Peter and there was a very lovely Bartender whom I think of often although I can't remember her name. I was there with J J Duel who introduced me to Michael. What memories!!

We stayed at the Bull for 3 nights. The hotel had a lot of character. We were in the Cox suite (room 24) which included a 4 poster bed. The room was very cold but there were a couple of portable heaters in the room. The bed was comfy and there was a flat screen tv with a range of channels. My sister-in-law stayed in room 26 which also had a 4 poster bed. By comparrision, their room was considerably smaller with a tight squeeze to get into the bathroom. The small portable TV could only recieve one channel and that was in black and white.
The food was plentiful and of a reasonable quality, especially breakfast which set us up for the day.
On the whole, the staff were friendly and helpful, although the reception staff were slightly stand offish.
Overall, the hotel was slightly tired and tried to be something it was not. A previous review mentions it is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel and that is probably accurate.

It's just not a Hotel, lets be honest it's a pub that rents rooms, and they are not that great. I stayed in two different rooms over a two week period, neither of the remotes for the Very small TV's worked and its was freezing cold. The rooms looked tired even though they have been spruced up and the beds are hard. The bathrooms were clean and modern which is a bonus compared to the rest of the room! There is a cosy bar on the ground level & breakfasts are good and the staff are great, but I wouldn't bother to stay there again!

After ready very mixed reviews we decided to go for this hotel as it was a late booking and we just kept our fingers crossed. We really did had an excellent stay on a 3 nights for the price of two basis. The food, service and cleanliness were all very good and I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel. Perhaps the bed could have done with being bigger but all in all enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.

Don't let the website miss lead you. This hotel is in desperate need of a make-over. The first room we were given had absolutely no view, had kitchen cupboards & the tv only had 2 channels that worked. We complained & were given a room at the front which on first impression was lovely,but.....I have never slept in such a dreadful bed. Not only was it lumpy and soft the Duvet as filthy and I've thrown away better pillows then were on the bed !!
The food wasn't bad but I just got the feeling that it was set in a time warp, stuck in the 80's! The staff were lovely, friendly and seem to work very hard. It would of been nice if they could change the menu choice for the Cotswold Break menu, as when staying for 3 nights it can get a bit boring. Beautiful hotel but please get rid of the plastic flowers !!!!!
