“Quaint step back in time......”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

Just returned from a 2 night break (purchased on E Bay). Our room was clean and comfortable, yes it was a bit dated, but thats to be expected with the history and character of this charming hotel. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the food was very good too. The 2 night break included one evening meal and we had planned to eat elsewhere on the 2nd night, but we were so impressed with the cosy and comfy atmosphere we ate at The Bull both nights. Lovely walks around the village, especially River Walk which is just to the side and across the road from the hotel. We plan to return.......

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4 which was spacious and at the front of the hotel. We stayed Tues/Wed nights so...

Stopped at The Bull Hotel for supper while driving through Fairford on 15/6/2012.
I have to comment on how welcoming, friendly and helpfull the staff were.
The restaurant was clean and tidy, with general happy chat from other customers. I orderd a fillet steak with the usual chips and veg,and port and stilton sauce. My partner orderd thier beer batterd cod and chips. Both meals were served promptly ,and utterly delicious. The sauce with the steak was the best i have ever tasted, and the steak itself melted in your mouth, perfection!
The beer batterd cod was again perfect. Crispy perfectly cooked light batter, big generous fillet of moist flakey cod.
The staff were extremely helpfull preparing this unseasoned (pepper allergy) and i cannot wait to return. My mouth is literally watering thinking about that sauce. I cannot recommend The Bull highly enough! And only £36.00 including a couple of drinks!

Room Tip: We didnt stay, but would have no hesitation in booking a room here.

Just back from a few days at The Bull Hotel, Fairford. We're struggling to understand some of the negative reviews we read beforehand.... The hotel was fine for the tariff paid, the food was wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is old and full of character but in a lovely charming way. Our room (no. 15 at the back of the hotel) was comfortable with a newly refurbed bathroom. Furnishings could have been more up-to-date but were all clean and in keeping with the style of the room. In terms of meals, they have a great chef and I'd recommend the pie of the day, the special steak and the duck with crispy noodles. Thank you to all the staff who made for a happy stay - you're all doing a great job! If you're booked or about to book the hotel, it's absolutely fine. I'm sure you'll have a great stay - you can be certainly be assured of a friendly welcome. There's some lovely walks around Fairford, search for them on Google. The only thing to be weary of - it's market day on Wednesday on the car park at the front of the hotel - don't park on the market overnight on Tuesdays! There are car parks at the back of the hotel. Enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter but the views are better at the front as they overlook th...

Stayed here on the 29th and 30th May, weather was just right. Our two day break at The Bull Hotel was delightful. Room was good, food was excellent, staff were extremely friendly, location lovely. It deserves more than a 2* rating. Will certainly go again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front can be a little noisy due to business deliveries.

Just got back from a couple of days relaxing at The Bull Hotel, Fairford. Having read the reviews before we came had a few reservations, but needn’t have worried. Some people have glasses half empty and ours if definitely half full, so went with a positive attitude. if you want a box room, the same as the room next door and the room next to that then stick with the Travelodge or Premier Inn. This hotel is 'Wonky' in the best way possible. We have stayed in many BOG standard rooms where every room looks the same as the one we stayed in 200 miles away and loved the fact that the Hotel OOZED character and charm. The staff were very very friendly, and always had a smile. We stayed in room 21, OK it’s not 5 star...but then we were not paying 5 star prices so don’t expect 5 star standards. If you are looking for warm, friendly, welcoming and a relaxing break, then this is where you should go. The Hotel is situated right on the Market Square and we spent two evenings in the front beer garden people watching with a tipple or two :) Our meal on the first evening was very nice, and hubby said one of the nicest Steaks he's had. Brekkie again was good. Fairford is a quaint village and a great base to visit the Cotswolds.
I would recommend this hotel if you would like a relaxing break, but not if you are looking for 5 star standards, or generic characterless rooms. Have fun :)
