“Nice relaxed atmosphere”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

We came across The Corinium almost by accident while looking for a bed for the night in Cirencester, and were fortunate to get the last four-poster room available. This is a very nice little hotel, with ample free parking and WiFi, within a few minutes walk of the town centre.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the stairs to the top of the house are very steep, but help is on hand for those who need it. The owner and manager were helpful and welcoming, the bar is cosy and friendly, and the hotel has a nice relaxed atmosphere. No complaints

Very enjoyable one-night stay, remarkably quiet for a Friday night close to the centre of a very interesting town. The bedroom was clean and complete with TV, Wi-Fi, coffee making, iron and hair-dryer. We should have realised that "compact" meant limited space around the bed and an en-suite that would be difficult for a large person. Having said that it was fine for us. There is a delightful well-kept garden to enjoy when the weather is favourable. It is a pity that the inside communal area is less inviting. The staff were all very attentive and helpful. There were full buffet breakfast options with attentive staff. We would overall recommend this to friends.

Room Tip: Book early

Many thanks for your review and we were pleased to read that you generally enjoyed your stay with us. It was a bit surprising that you felt the public areas were not as inviting as we normally hear it has such a warm cosy atmosphere. Thanks again however and I do hope that we can look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.
Kind regards

Take note that this is an old building and the stairs are steep, I do not think there is a lift.i enjoyed my stay, the locals and manager were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent. I was a single traveller so my room was in the gods and the less mobile would struggle. All in all enjoyable.

Thanks very much for your review and we were pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. As the building is grade 2 listed, we do not have a lift. However, we do have many rooms on lower floor plus a couple on the ground floor. We also offer luggage assistance.

Thanks again and hope that we can welcome you back again in the future.

This hotel has such a lovely atmosphere. The small bar area and restaurant had a relaxed feel. The service and staff were excellent Margaret in particular was most welcoming and helpful. My room was small but well appointed, my only criticism would be the noise coming from the corridor and the steepness of the stairs could be a problem to older guests.
There is plenty of parking space and you are about a 5 minute walk away from the centre of town. The food was very good along with a good wine selection.

Thank you so much for your kind comments, which my staff and I were very pleased to read. I am very fortunate to have an excellent team of people here, particularly Margaret. Whilst one flight of stairs to 3 of our rooms is indeed steep (grade 2 listed so cannot be removed), we do advise people in advance about this. We also have many other rooms on lower floors including 2 on ground floor. We were so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards, Tim Waller

We spent four nights at this hotel, and although rooms are quite ancient, we loved it! It is very quiet and very clean.
Breakfasts are good and the owners are very friendly. In fact, I left a watch on the bedside table, and they sent it back to me without any aditional charge.
definetly we´ll come back if we return to the Costwolds

We found the Corinium Hotel in Cirencester thru the local Information booking office and what a great find. The hotel in in a 1595 building that has outstanding charm. The staff could not have ben more helpful to a pair of confused Yanks. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was more than enough. We will be back, hopefully for a longer stay.

Lovely, friendly, full of character hotel. Stayed just for one night but had a lovely room full of character, beams, four poster bed.
The service was amazing. The staff organised a taxi for our night out and informed us when it had arrived to pick us up. Food served at breakfast, lunch and dinner was good quality and fantastic value for money. Was served mainly by Margaret, who was exceptionally helpful and pleasant.
Altogether, a great experience. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: The room we had was the most expensive but there are 16 rooms to chose from. Would advise to book ea...
