“Fantastic weekend getaway”
Reviewed June 11, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We were 6 friends plus 3 babies, a toddler and a dog who needed a self-catering house for a weekend catch up. Harrier Lodge and the Lower Mill Estate was the perfect venue for us.

The house catered well to our needs and we were provided with three travel cots and a high chair so were thankful not to have to cart the extra baby equipment! We loved the veranda that looked out onto Clearwater lake, which kept my three-year old daughter entertained the whole weekend, spotting ducks, swans, herons, dragon flies, fish and canoeists!

Jamie the Guest Relations Manager made us feel very welcome on our arrival. The staff at the spa and swimming pools were very friendly and were able to help us with any queries that we had. My husband and I both enjoyed a relaxing massage at the spa and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of both the indoor and outdoor pools plus play areas with our two daughters.

We enjoyed a pleasant lunch at the Baker's Arms, which is a short walk from the Lower Mill Estate in the village of Somerford Keynes. It was a good lunch venue for people with young children, with changing facilities and an outdoor play area.

I would thoroughly recommend Harrier Lodge and the Lower Mill Estate for a weekend stay - it is quite pricey but definitely worth the extra money for the onsite facilities. We will definitely be back!

“Five star value in an idyllic setting”
Reviewed March 30, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We had a wonderful weekend stay: despite the weather the kids managed to swim, play table tennis and cycle around the estate.
The property was fab and the setting idyllic.

“Nearly but not quite...”

First impressions of this lodge are great; contemporary furnishings in an open plan space overlooking a delightful stretch of water. HOWEVER, after a couple of hours, several niggly things emerge which spoil the experience.
The kitchen lacks sufficient equipment for the number of visitors, particularly in the provision of a tiny rubbish bin. There are only 6 dining seats, but 9 beds. Absolutely NO soft furnishings except for 4 rather well worn cushions. The clean, contemporary look begins to look stark with no rugs or curtains anywhere.
There are only two mirrors - one on a wardrobe and one in a bathroom, so a nightmare when trying to get a family showered and hair dried at the same time. Similarly there was only one coat hook in the hall cupboard - where do 9 people hang their coats? There are no coffee tables, few bedside lights, cheap bunk beds. The owner is obviously maximising every happening of income....
The huge sliding doors were mud splattered and the decking was very slippery, so beware if you take young children as we did. Also beware hidden charges- we spent nearly £200 on extras such as winter heating, wi fi, spa charges and "logs", nearly £15 for 4 compacted cylinders of sawdust...
On top of this, the dishwasher was broken for 5 of our 7 days and a broken radiator was never repaired.
Despite this, we had a lovely time. The concept of the water park has been skilfully developed into an exciting mix of architectural styles in a natural setting. Swans and ducks joined us for breakfast each morning and a hedgehog clambered onto the decking each night. Nearby Cirencester is delightful and the staff at the Bakers Arms were great with a toddler. The Spa facilities were lovely and immaculately maintained.
Basic advice: if you have high expectations, you may be disappointed. Aim low and you'll be thrilled!

“Excellent place for relaxing with friends or family”
Reviewed November 26, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We were a group of 7 friends wanting a relaxed weekend away and this place was perfect. The setting on the lake was wonderful and the house was just what we needed. There were some great walks to do and we used the spa on the estate which was an added luxury, Cirencester nearby was also lovely. Would also have been great for families. The owners were friendly and helpful, all in all a great time.
