A nice pub, warm and friendly atmosphere, food is varied and good value for money and a decent amount on the plate. Puddings are mouth wateringly delicious. Definately recommended for lunchtime sandwiches/light meals and evening dinners.

Dropped into The Thames Head Inn on a busy Sunday lunchtime and managed to get a table for 3 without booking. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Service was excellent and prompt. The Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding was beautifully cooked with lots of fresh vegetables, Roast Potatoes, gravy and horseradish sauce. The portion was massive but absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Thames Head Inn and plan to go back soon.

The Thames Head has become a regular dining spot when out in the vicinity. Ample parking, good food served throughout the day, willing to serve group of 12 with no notice. Clean, solid wooden tables in keeping with the stone interior.
Made a late booking for Saturday night dinner for 3. Despite a party of 20 (accommodated in function room), another group of 10 and various other diners, noise level was not overly loud. Well-staffed with prompt efficient service.
Starters well-sized, adequate as main for smaller appetites; have struggled on more than one occasion to finish main course after starter. Menus, both bar snacks and mains offer good range of choices, supplemented by specials board. All chose Brie Armandine (mouth-watering melting Brie with toasted almonds) & well-pleased with a different take on Brie. Again Bob's Bubble & Squeak proved popular, delicious as ever, as was the special Hot Smoked Salmon Risotto.
Great meal enjoyed by all.

My uncle and I came to the area on a quest to search of the source of the Thames. After driving around following the satnav to the coordinates of the stone to no avail, we decided to stop at the Thames Head Inn to ask. Turns out the noticeboard inside the porch at the front door had all the information you needed to know how to walk there. So then we thought we might as well head in for a drink. We were greeted with a warm welcome (and not only because of the open fire) and i asked for a pint of the local, and i was then asked 'straight or handle', they still serve in handle glasses!!

We then went on our walk to find the thames head marker and then walked along the Thames Path for a bit until we could see actual water and then we headed back for another pint before we left.

We arrived latish on a dark, windy, wet night to celebrate a relaxing wedding anniversary weekend. The welcome by Robin was superb who could not do enough to make us feel welcome, seating us by the log fire to chill our old aching bones and promptly serving us a warming beverage,
Our dinner was served with flair and hit the spot. Smoked salmon with a tasty beetroot chutney and Stilton ( special request by hubby who does not like mozzarella) garlic bread followed by Bob's amazing Bubble and squeak and a homemade burger. All dishes cooked to perfection and served by a jolly Jamie who was efficient without being intrusive.
We then retired to our luxury room, although situated in an outbuilding adjacent to the main building it was so toastie, tastefully decorated and not at all lacking in creature comforts.
After the best night sleep we had had for some time, we had to eat again!!!
Breakfast was served and what a choice, again my husband's odd preferences, this time for fried bread which was served with a smile and no problem,
After a pleasant day out we returned for a fortifying alcoholic beverage to be served and welcomed by the landlady Nickie. Again the welcome was immense and nothing too much trouble.
As this day was our actual anniversary we decided to investigate the "specials" board. Homemade pate was my choice, how amazing to be served real homemade pate, soft tasty and definitely homemade, The broccoli and mushroom soup was outstanding with superb rustic bread.. The sirloin steak he ordered was cooked to his precise requirements and his request for onion rings (a non menu item) was meet with an "of course , Sir" However, the dish I choose was the most amazing meal I have ever eaten. Braised duck leg on a sweet potato and basil mash, sherry sauce and parsnip crisps. What a dish, flavours and textures just superb,
We are not dessert people, but the choice was tempting, however we were full.
After another excellent night's sleep, our last meal. Again such pleasant service and we sat chatting for hours over a enormous breakfast and so much coffee.
An unbelievable experience.. to be repeated soon again I hope.
