“Excellent cottage and location.”
Reviewed May 13, 2013 for a stay in September 2012

Hi we stayed here for a week last September, we found the cottage to be extremely comfortable and cosy.It is a beautiful example of a chocolate box thatched cottage. It is fitted out to a very high standard and has everything you need to make it a home from home. The cottage is in a great position to use as a base for exploring the local area and is only one mile away from two great pubs, I would recommend eating at the tunnel inn. I would recommend this cottage to family and friends.

“Delightful traditional historic cottage”
Reviewed May 12, 2013 for a stay in June 2012

A beautiful little cottage in a gorgeous quiet location surrounded by open farmland. The thatched roof, beams, flagged floor and fireplace are stunning. A pleasant garden with fruit trees and lavender. The owners also put some nice little touches in- tea and biscuits and boardgames.

Liked best: No light pollution so you can really see the stars. Sitting in the garden on the comfy furniture at twilight looking over the fields whilst the bats fluttered about.
Liked least: slow draining (although lovely roll top) bath, no lock on loo door and inoperable oven (So complex I couldnt work it even with the manual)

“Everything you need for a romantic break”
Reviewed May 12, 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We loved the cottage. It was beautifully and sympathetically restored to a very high standard retaking a cosy and romantic feel. It was well equipped and it a perfect peaceful location, with great views. We wanted to return for our anniversary the following year but it booked. We will definitely be going back sometime soon.

“Cosy Thatched Cottage”
Reviewed May 10, 2013 for a stay in August 2012

We had a lovely stay in Asphodel Cottage. It is charming and well kept. The stair to the bedroom needs some agility to navigate. The owner was helpful and friendly. Beautiful area. It is definitely a 'couple' destination - not suitable for children or someone with a disability.

“Absolutely amazing cottage - would certainly recommend!!!”
Reviewed May 10, 2013 for a stay in June 2012

My partner and I were looking for a very last minute getaway in the Cotswolds and came across Asphodel Cottage afterwhich we enquired online and got a response the same day from Martin. He was extremely helpful and made the experience and weekend so enjoyable and stress-free! The cottage and gardens are stunning - even more beautiful than the pictures online. Ideal for couples - would certainly reccommend as could not have asked for more perfect property or location.

“Takes you back in time”
Reviewed May 9, 2013 for a stay in October 2011

The cottage is lovely, having been lovingly restored to how it was 200 years ago, except the kitchen area and bathroom, both of which cater for modern-day living. The garden was lovely and, although October, we sat out with our coffee a couple of afternoons. The only drawback was the pile of logs, or rather the absence of such. There was one whole one and one half-burnt one. Luckily Waitrose was not too far away and still open so we managed to get some there. Would not recommend it to people with walking/climbing difficulties as the stone stairs were the original and quite steep. There was a handrail to help. It only sleeps 2, so no children.

Management Response
Jul 28, 2013
Very pleased that you enjoyed the stay. We wholeheartedledly apologise for the lack of logs - an ample supply along with kindlng, firelighters and matches is supplied for every guest. This was an unfortunate oversight by our housekeeper who has been soundly whipped and promises not to do it again.
