I went with friends on Monday - an absolute delight. Another week or two and the roses will be in full bloom. A beautiful walled garden, lots of interesting little paths, and a small patio to enjoy tea and coffee and cake. Well worth the entry fee.

Lovely way to spend a few hours in early May. The season is so late this year but we went to this garden just to see how it was progressing. £5 entrance fee that you put in a box at the entrance, spring borders just starting to green up, masses of bee friendly plants already. An interesting banked fruit and vegetable garden also just warming up. I took several ideas away to use in my own sloping garden. We sat and had tea outside...you help yourself to tea and cake (money in box again). There are gardeners etc around and a very reasonably priced selection of plants to buy. Great afternoon...would recommend to see now for early structure and think that the roses in June would be wonderful.

The walled garden is lovely but to make the most of the £5 entrance fee which you post in the box it would be nice if there was a little map so you could plan a decent walk around the area. I'm sure in summer it would be spectacular but in April you were left feeling a little short changed.

This really is a secret. Quite tricky to find, and we only discovered its existence by trawling the internet for somewhere to go one Sunday. It was well worth it! We picnicked in the gazebo with a wonderful vista before us, made tea in the bothy - what a fantastic idea - while browsing the cards and pottery on sale. It was magical, even more so because most of the time, we didn't see another soul! The garden had that slightly chaotic look of a cottage garden allowed to do its own thing, but I feel that must take a lot of work! The natural surroundings are beautiful too, and we saw deer chasing through the trees as we walked in front of the house. We will certainly go again at a different time of year.

We swooned with the scent of roses, the vistas up and down walkways to gazebos, benches, spots to sit and be impressed. Medicinals garden, herbs, edibles, laid out to enchant. And to our amazement, it was basically empty. (bad weather forecast could explain that, but our luck was amazing in having an unexpected sunny morning. They also sell cheeses they make from local goats' milk - the one we bought is great!
