We stayed at Mill Bank House for three days as a large family of 11 as we all had a wedding to go to at nearby Cripps Barn. I honestly can't put in to words how beautiful this cottage is, we were blow away by the spectacular views, the gorgeous interior and the tranquility of its location. Heidi the owner could not have been more helpful from the start of booking until we left. She recommend some nearby pubs and we had a dinner one evening at The Catherine Wheel which was lovely and very reasonable. We took advice from a previous reviewer and ordered an online food shop to be delivered as we knew beforehand we were in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds and there is no "corner shop" to nip out to, this is not a negative thing at all! Few things that actually didn't turn out to be bad things are there is no phone signal which again was a nice break from city living, the cottage has wifi, and a landline that can be used free of charge for local numbers. The facilities in the cottage are perfect, we didn't want to leave! Unbelievable views and breathtaking scenery. We are already talking about booking again in the Summer. Thanks again Heidi for making us feel so welcome and for sharing your beautiful home

“Fantastic stay in idyllic surroundings!”

We stayed at Mill Bank House in April as a large mixed family group for my dads 70th surprise celebrations - the youngest in the group being 6 months and the oldest....the man of the hour, granddad!

From the moment I started dealing with the owners, Heidi and her husband they were incredibly patient, helpful and accommodating. As it was a surprise that myself and my brother were arranging we had lots of questions about caterers, local pubs, the area etc and Heidi answered everything quickly and with invaluable knowledge.

As a result we had an amazing experience - Heidi took care to check how we would like the bedrooms configured which made a huge difference with our mixed age group, and pointed us to a fab couple of pubs locally, the Catherine Wheel for Sunday lunch and the Wheatsheaf at Northleach.

We also booked an amazing local caterer, Vicky Hughes of Green Fig Catering in Cirencester who was very charming and cooked the most amazing supper for us all, ably helped by a waitress / chefs help Victoria, which made it even more special.

The house itself is absolutely stunning. Its in the middle of rolling fields with sheep grazing directly next to the garden fence which the kids loved! There is a gorgeous stream running alongside the house which the kids loved exploring.....we do these big family holidays a couple of times a year and can honestly say this is the most child friendly (in terms of outdoor space to explore / pretty surroundings) that we've been to.

The décor is very tastefully done and had everything you need to make your stay comfortable - the birthday a cake and wine on arrival was a very sweet touch!

Overall I cant recommend this property, the surroundings, and Heidi herself enough. An astounding success from start to end (even before we arrived the cleaners kindly called to say we could check in slightly earlier (as we requested to make the most of the weekend!)

I almost don't want to post this review as we will definitely return and don't want it to be fully booked!! If you're considering this property, I genuinely cant recommend it highly enough.

Thank you very very much from the Luke Family for a weekend of special memories, love and laughter.....and one very happy and emotional granddad :)

“Comfortable house in beautiful location. Ideal as our 'Wedding' Base.”
Reviewed January 19, 2015 for a stay in June 2014

Excellent service received from the owners. Smooth booking procedure and clear instructions left at house etc.
My family absolutely loved the house & beautiful garden. We used it as a base for our daughter's wedding preps, a few family members staying on after the wedding. It was ideal for a large group, so spacious. Beds were very comfortable - we slept like logs. Spacious kitchen had most things you ever require for cooking and plenty of cutlery etc. e Location was lovely as a retreat. With a bit of organisation and planning you are fine. We ordered food etc in via Waitrose home delivery, besides shops are only a drive away at Cirencester or Northleach. All in all loved the peace and tranquility of the place and the surrounding areas were a delight to visit. All in all was fab to relax with family members we left with some beautiful memories associated with our daughter's wedding. Days were spent visiting other villages in the locality, BBQs & chilling in the garden (we were fortunate to have good weather the week we stayed at Millbank house). There was working Wifi and a land line for when mobile signal was weak in the area. If you leave half your clothes behind the owner will ensure they are returned to you. :-) Hopefully we will get the opportunity to spend a weekend there some time in the future. The Hayden Family.

Liked best: The house suited and was perfect for our needs. Wedding day preps and then a period to chill after.
Liked least: Not having a mobile signal at times but we had the land line so no real problem so could was able to contact other family members staying at other localities easily.

“Perfect for a multi generational family holiday”
Reviewed July 15, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We are a three generational family of expat Brits who have lived in the US for more than 30 years. We chose Mill Bank House for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Old Country to reconnect with our origins, past haunts, and to provide partners and grandchildren with an opportunity to connect with part of family history. It turned out that the choice was perfect. The Cotswold location was ideal for many places of significance to us ranging from Windsor, Oxford, Bath and Stratford within a day trip, to more local attractions such as Chedworth, Cirencester, Bibury, Burford and Bourton. The configuration of the house was ideal for our needs, including a lovely garden with a big lawn where children could wind down after a busy day, multiple places to sit is small clumps to avoid getting on each others' nerves, spacious kitchen with ample cooking and storage facilities, large dining area seating ten with no problem, outside patio with grill and seating, view over fields with sheep and pheasant.

We stayed ten days and could have stayed longer. Heidi handled our overseas reservation and payment efficiently and responded patiently to many questions. Everything was as described in her emailed documentation. Given our lack of familiarity with driving in England we decided to employ a bus with driver for our daytime trips and shopping. This worked well, but left us without transport in the evening. Be aware that the nearest pub is in Bibury which may be a bit far to walk on a typical evening. It didn't matter much because we had everything we needed on site and knew before we got there but some people might expect differently. We are very happy and grateful for our time at Mill Bank House and have no hesitation recommending it to anyone seeking to cater for a group like ours.

Management Response
Jul 16, 2014
Dear Sue and Lindon, Thanks so much for a lovely review, I'm so pleased Mill Bank House worked out so well for you. You're right that there is no pub in the village but we see that as a positive as so many otherwise stunning Cotswold villages are spoilt in the summer by cars parked everywhere whilst their owners visit the pub! Our closest is The Hare and Hounds, a civilised 20 minute walk or 5 in a car.
Best wishes.
