“Superb for a family holiday”
Reviewed August 13, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Booked Songthrush for an extended family holiday. We were not disappointed. The house was comfortable and spacious. There was plenty to do in the estate to keep all of our party happy. With an age range of 2-83 there were things for everyone. The Spa/ Pool was very popular and used everyday.
The "Estate Grounds" and nature reserve are beautiful and great for walking or cycling. In fact there is so much to see and do in the area that we could have done with more time.
All in all we had a fabulous holiday and would highly recommend this place.

“Lovely relaxing stay in a safe, child friendly environment.”
Reviewed July 26, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This is a very well maintained property that is the perfect place for holidaying with extended family. The lakes, walks and swimming pools on site mean that you do no need to leave the estate if you do not want to. Pedestrians have priority on the whole complex, making it a safe environment for children on foot or bikes. We will definitely be back.

“Stay enjoyed by all.”
Reviewed April 29, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Songthrush is a comfortable and spacious house with a homely feel.It was perfect for our visit of 3 generations aged from 3-70. The open plan ground floor has comfy sofas, large dining table and well equipped kitchen. All the furniture, fittings and linen are high spec. The 2nd floor bedroom is an amazing size and the children loved to come in at 6.30am and watch TV for a little while whilst we and their parents had an extra snooze! The booking with Liz was both friendly and efficient and she provided lots of information about the house, the estate and surrounding area. We felt at home straight away. The weather was very good for the whole week we were there so we enjoyed lots of walks round the lakes, cycling, tennis, football, sauna and swimming in all the pools.
Some of our group had massages in the spa and recommend those. The shoppers amongst us enjoyed a visit to Stroud and Chedworth Roman Villa is also recommended The children enjoyed paddling after a walk to nearby Neigh Bridge Country Park.We mainly cooked for family meals but had a lunch at The Weighbridge Inn at Langfords Mill nr Nailworth one day. This is a drive or cycle away. but worth it for their 2 in 1 pies! We shopped for food in Cirencester when supplies ran low but we saw plenty of delivery vans on the estate. The village shop has delicious food but is rather expensive but we enjoyed treats from there. Cars were always driven slowly on the estate and children were safe on bikes and scooters with supervision. At the rear of the house is a patio with BBQ, small lawn and then drops to a stream so toddlers would have to be watched. We had the patio doors open a lot with the warm weather and it was lovely to hear the bird song. The children were delighted with visits from the ducks and a swan.A perfect relaxing holiday in a lovely house in a beautiful area.

“Great house in a lovely setting”

The house is spacious and had plenty of room for two families with five kids between us. It was spotlessly clean, modern and had everything we needed for our new year break.
Being located opposite the spa was a bonus and the kids loved swimming outside in the cold and frosty nights - I loved the sauna/steam room. The spa was clean with good long opening hours - thought the changing rooms get very busy and are quite small.
Can't fault the house, lovely views - and the swan mentioned by others visited us.
Recommend a trip to the Cotswold Animal Park, that was lovely with lots to see. Book the spa well in advance if you want a treatment, they look lovely - but are very busy. Football pitch and trampolines etc were a hit with the kids. Would definitely recommend even in winter.

“Lovely setting among the Cotswold lakes”
Reviewed January 7, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Stayed at the house with four friends in early December and highly recommend it. It's a reasonable size - one large dining and sitting room and one kitchen, plus five bedrooms. It's a semi though the people who own the other side weren't around when we were there.

The best thing about it though is the setting - it's a private modern estate in the middle of the Cotswold Water Park. The infant Thames runs along the edge of the estate and there is plenty of walking from the front door - along the river and otherwise.

To get to anywhere of any size (Kemble, Cirencester) though you'll need a car, or the services of a local minicab firm.

The spa is virtually next door. We didn't use it so can't comment other than to say it looked well equipped and reasonably spacious.

The owner, Liz, was great - everything went smoothly, the place was in good condition, lots of helpful information was provided at the house (and by email) and the deposit was returned promptly.

Any negatives? Well it's a bit of a mobile phone blackspot if that bothers you. And if you're getting food delivered by a supermarket delivery firm they may take a while to find you, as the layout and numbering of the state is all over the place. (To her credit Liz flagged both of these up in advance.) And if you want a pub on the doorstep you'll be disappointed - the nearest one (Bakers Arms) is a good half hour walk away in Somerford Keynes. Worth going to though - we had a decent Sunday lunch there.

“Great place, excellent service”
Reviewed October 13, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Liz was incredibly helpful with the booking of the property and her after service support was exceptional. The house is beautiful and perfect for large family groups, exactly as described. The facilities in the water park are very good, even in low season. Highly recommended and we would certainly return.
