“Saturday night drinks”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

A mixed gender bunch of us middle aged chums arranged to meet up in this pub for a drink last night (Saturday). It's a large, open plan, rustic - perhaps too minimalistic - but agreeable venue.

The service wasn't the best and the bar was mainly staffed by a number of young (inexperienced) girls who occasionally found it more important to chat with each other or just daydream rather than look for customers to serve. The beer and wine were very good however - BUT - very, very, very, expensive - ranging between £12.00 and £16.00 for three drinks.

There weren't many people eating and it's clearly a weekend watering hole for groups of young people flitting from one bar to another so it had a few waves of really busy periods throughout the course of the evening until closing time about 12:30.

Would I go back, probably not - it seems to be geared up for the under 40's with its open plan look and is clearly geared up to maximise the floor area to get as many customers in as possible, although there are number of long tables and benches to sit on too.

“Top quality traditional pub grub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

Looked nice so popped in to look at menu. Fairly quiet but was Friday 4ish. Serving food all afternoon/evening. Menu was diverse, anything from burger to risotto. Something to suit the whole family. Very friendly bar men, laid back and helpful. Food came after about 20 minutes and everything was very fresh, homemade and hot, everyone loved their meal. Massive portions and reasonably priced. Nothing bad to say about this place at all.

“Evening Drinks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Having always lived in neighbouring villages and now in Cirencester, the Crown has always been the place to go for an evening drink. I have never eaten here properly, just the odd snack. It always has a great atmosphere and the décor and feel of the place is good. The little courtyard at the back is a lovely outside space and it is conveniently located in the centre of town. Usually quite busy which is good as it means it is popular, only slight niggle is that the drinks can be a bit on the pricey side, but it doesn't stop me going back!
