What a treat this place is for history lovers of all ages. You have to pay to get in, but it's not too much (about a fiver for an adult, less each on a discounted family ticket), and it's so worth it. The Roman mosaics and artefacts recovered from the Cirencester area are absolutely stunning, and very well displayed. There are interactive, child-height things at many of the displays (I tried and failed to do the mosaic jigsaw, though later I saw a 10-year-old make a better attempt) and the explanations are very clear. It covers the pre- and post- Roman periods too, right up to 18th/19th century Cirencester. Nice café and toilets, good situation in town centre, and incorporates the tourist information office. A brilliant visit.
