A well-presented, comfortable hotel conveniently placed for the town's main attractions. Basement room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. But some rot in the woodwork and a rather dated bathroom, and noise from the main floor above. Breakfast was good and the service was efficient, but surprisingly no sweetners available. Two main issues - 'late dea' prices significantly undercut normal rates, so worth checking. Parking at the hotel is not easy, given restrictions and the narrow road.

Thank you for reviewing The Cheltenham Townhouse and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay.

We normally have high occupancy levels and for weekends guests tend to book 2 - 3 weeks in advance, however if we have any late cancellations we do offer deals on our website to sell these rooms at short notice. Please dont let it put you off booking in advance - we feel that we offer good value for money and are certainly one of the most competatively priced hotels in Cheltenham.

Please ring direct for our best deals.

Stayed here just for one night with 2 other couples. Found it quite easily using sat nav. Given a parking permit to park in street immediately out front of hotel - nice wide spaces (good further parking at rear of hotel if street is full). Checked in, with guided tour of public areas and then to our spacious room with 2 chairs and large comfy bed. All very nicely decorated. Tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom a little dated but adequate. Breakfast excellent - huge choice of breakfast items - all good quality. We appreciated complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits served to our party of 6 in the lounge whe we returned (cold + exhausted) from our day out! Location is ok - approx 20 min walk to start of main shops and only 5 - 10 min to nearest pub (Conservatory Wine bar looked after us well!!). Staff were great and recommended good restaurant for our evening entertainment.

Thank you for taking the time to review The Townhouse. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

As you say there is a local pub "The Sudely" and The Conservatory Cafe Bar less than 5 minutes walk from us. There is also a good selection of international restaurants within a 10 minute walk - Thai, Chinese, Turkish, Indian and Californian to name just a few.

The High street with Marks & Spencers, Primark etc are just a 5 to 8 minutes walk from The Townhouse. Montpellier is further along from the main Promenade around 15 minutes from The Townhouse.

We hope to see you again if you are visiting Cheltenham.

Regards

Stayed here just for one night. A treat away from home, even though we only live 25 minutes away. Warm welcome, immediately given a parking permit and then shown the lounge, honesty bar, breakfast room and our rooms. We had a luxury double Room 4 which was on the front of the hotel. Spacious room with sofa and large bed. Breakfast excellant. Friendly staff and when checking out admiring the colour of paint throughout the rooms I was given a colour chart!!!! If I was pushed for a negative it would be the shower was over the bath and it had shower curtains - soz just one of my pet hates! Will definitely be visiting again when I want an overnight in Cheltenham - location is good too. If you've never been to Cheltenham - you must. Great for retail therapy and foodies and of course the races! Thanks to the owners and staff of this excellant hotel.

PROS
Friendly helpful staff
Good breakfast
Big clean rooms
Only a few minutes walk from the town centre and the multi-screen cinema & restaurants
Easy parking
Very comfortable bed
Although it is mostly residents parking in the road (permits provided) it was easy and not a problem
DVD’s & CD’s available to borrow
Fruit available but it was a bit tired looking

CONS
Some noise at night - lovely big Regency House but not well sound insulated from room above or outside corridor
Due to noise we had to move from a luxury room to a standard one and there was no refund, told we had a good price! but they did move us promptly
WiFi was patchy and slow
At times we were chilly in the hotel

We would stay again but probably not spend the money on a ground floor luxury room due to the stairs being opposite the door and a bedroom overhead where all noise is very clear downstairs. An upstairs room seems a better bet and they have a lift.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have no one above to disturb you. Front has better view.

We stayed for a week during the Cheltenham Literary festival and had a lovely time. I stayed with my Mum and my son and the owners made us feel very welcome, always stopping to talk and greet us when we came in. We were regularly offered tea in the lounge which was a lovely treat. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated and had all of the facilities that you might want, the DVD player in our room was good for us for the evenings.

The food at breakfast was delicious, presented well and always hot. The table linen is pristine and makes breakfast feel like an occasion.

We loved The Townhouse and hope to return this year for a stay during the literary festival again.
