A theatre with a long history - first performance in 1891 - that has recently been refurbished to an excellent standard. As the longest standing (and still operating) Frank Matcham theatre in the country, The Everyman Theatre has one of the most beautifully sculpted and painted auditoriums one will ever visit. Upon entering the auditorium, please look up! As a professional touring theatre, visitors are treated to a wide variety of shows from ballets and operas, comedy nights and thrillers to the latest musicals and murder mysterys in the main auditorium as well as showcasing new writing and award winning festival pieces in the equally excellent Studio Theatre.
I have seen three shows recently - the panto (Dick Whittington), 39 Steps and A Night with Tweedy and each time has been an excellent experience. From the friendly and welcoming Box Office staff to the lovely ushers on the doors, this is certainly one of the best places to visit in Cheltenham and the only place to go and see professional quality theatre in Gloucestershire!
