We wanted a quiet traditional English afternoon tea to meet up with some friends and we were so glad that we chose Ellenborough Park. It was perfect.

The venue is very scenic affording great views towards the racecourse. We enjoyed walking around the manicured grounds before taking tea in the Grand Hall which is beautifully decorated. Everywhere, inside and out, is so stunningly clean.

The choices of teas were plentiful; sandwiches, scones and pastries were all perfectly fresh and delicious of course! The whole ambience including the sumptuous soft furnishings add to the feeling of a relaxed lazy Sunday afternoon enjoying tea.

Service from all the immaculately dressed staff was attentive without being over-bearing and pitched wholly appropriately for the glamorous surroundings. We were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

Certainly highly recommended for that special occasion.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was perfect from beginning to end. We were a little daunted when we pulled up at the front in our VW Golf and the two cars in front of us were Aston Martin Vantages, however the valet parking staff never batted an eyelid and took our keys and carried our bags with a big cheery smile. The hotel itself is beautiful, but what sets this hotel apart is the staff, from the front desk staff to the gardeners, everyone one was lovely, they always had a smile on their face and took the time to say hello, and ask about your day or your plans. We had a luxury room by the pool with a little private terrace, there is a side entrance from the hotel to the pool and if you use this entrance it is only a few steps to your room, (but down a few steps and I can't remember seeing any disable access that way, so check it out.) Our room (20) was large with free standing roll top bath and a fantastic shower in the bathroom. However, As the weather was fantastic I did get to use the pool and the very comfy loungers. The pool isn't massive but big enough to cool off. The spa is small but we used it on two separate occasions and there was only one other couple in there each time so there was plenty of room. We both had treatments, and although there weren't cheap they were both great. We ate in both the fine dining and the Bistro, and both were lovely, the bistro is more casual, but the fine dining wasn't stuffy in any way, we still had a laugh with the staff and the cheese trolley was a sight to behold! The bar was comfortable and again staff were fantastic, very friendly and made you feel welcome. Our 3 days were fantastic, there was only one slight gripe and that was the Wi-Fi connection, which was poor or non existent as was the telephone signal, which can be irritating. The only other point was the in the hotel details it says that if you want to leave a tip for the staff, you can get an envelope from reception on check out and the tips are shared. We thought this was a great idea, so didn't tip during our stay, I asked for the envelope one check out, but they didn't seem to understand what I wanted and they gave me an ordinary window envelope and I didn't feel confident that it would get back to the staff as intended, it maybe better to tip as you go. The final lovely touch was went the valet parkers brought our car back they left a tin of mints and a note saying "we hope you enjoyed your stay". Overall we loved this hotel and will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Pool rooms are close to side entrance of the hotel. I'm not sure you need to upgrade to the luxu...

My husband, two adult daughters and I stayed here for 4 nights last week and we had a superb time. It lived up to all the reviews I had read before booking. We normally go abroad but decided this year it would be easier to stay in England and I am so pleased we did. With the weather being so hot we were able to enjoy the swimming pool which very rarely had more than 2 other people in it. We stayed in rooms 55 and 57 which were both delightful. Our room had a 4 poster bed and our daughters' room had a small patio with table and chairs which we used each evening for pre dinner drinks. The staff were all very helpful and courteous.

Breakfast was delicious with a vast array to choose from. The cooked breakfast was perfectly cooked. Although this is a very expensive hotel everything was of a very high standard and I would love to return.

Room Tip: We were in the luxury rooms but took advantage of their special offer.

Stayed for 2 nights. Was visiting from Australia. No family rooms so the the kids had an adjoining room. Expensive to pay for 2 rooms but you get what you pay for. The hotel is steeped in history with a great blend of modern and old. Rooms beautifully clean...every corner was dust free as you would expect. The bed was amazingly comfortable....will see if I can buy one in Australia. Thank fully our rooms had air conditioning as the weather in the UK was hotter than Australia. As such the rooms were cool and quiet. Underfloor heating in the bathroom ensured a lovely temperature in the morning. Stayed with a hoard of family so fully utilised pool, brasserie and bars. Would have been nice to use the spa too but did not have time. Breakfast was really good.

Room Tip: We had family staying in a range of rooms in the hotel. They all seemed nice.

We are delighted that you all enjoyed your stay here at Ellenborough Park. It must be strange to be staying in England when the temperature was so high. We are pleased that the air-conditioning was efficient for your stay. We are pleased too, that all members of your family enjoyed the facilities here at the hotel. Next time, try to make time to experience the Spa and one of our signature Babor treatments.

Very nice old place with a few modern additions done just right. The dining areas are absolutely fabulous and full of history. You really feel like an aristocrat here, but its not opulent or overwhelming. It's cozy, like a countryside manor. There's lots and lots of green grass and beautiful vegetation around, with a racecourse not far away and even field hares jumping across the lawn!

The only thing keeping me from giving this place five stars (though I would have given it four and a half, if I could) is that there's a bit of noise from car traffic. Not audible in the rooms, mind you! Just when you're walking around. And it's a shame too, because the surroundings do really encourage walking around and the traffic noise is just enough to keep you from fully relaxing. Other than that, it's an oasis of peace.

The staff are a lovely, multicultural bunch. Young, lively and very helpful.

Rooms are excellent, food just as great.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Woodland Court building are right by the pool. That can be either good or bad. It's...

We arrived in time to have the afternoon tea which compared favourably with the top London hotels.A minor criticism would be to have more sandwiches and less cakes. The scones were superb and the setting was superb.
The room was comfortable and quiet .The staff were attentive without being obtrusive.
I had the English breakfast in the morning with the addition of the black pudding which I enjoyed.
The only other problem we had was finding it as the hotel has such a small sign outside. It would help to have a sign further along the road .

Room Tip: We had a room in the old part which is more central
