Valentines dinner here - good value for money, Interesting entrance and "beach bar" then great general bar where we had a cocktail prior to the meal. Restaurant is slightly quirky (but I like that) in that there is one off the main bar and then one downstairs - which is only accessed by walking back out the entrance, along the pavement (about 10m) and then down some external stairs. Very French bistro feel to the decor. From memory I think the basement restaurant, to be fair, can also be accessed from the rear patio area which is lovely (but was too cold to sit out on).
Food was excellent and service prompt and friendly (although the bill and then the card machine took a while in arriving - this always winds me up as when I have decided that I have finished I like to be free to leave whenever and not kept waiting).
I had the coquilles st jacques and husband the hock terrine, both were tasty. We then shared a chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection. There was a shared quartet of desserts which worked well - we do 't usually eat desserts but these were varied and not too big. This was all part of the valentines set dinner for £35 (plus £5 supplement for the chateaubriand). Definitely worth a visit, we will be going back.
