Description: A traditional country 17th Century inn situated in the Cotswolds only 15 minutes drive from Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cirencester. The Green Dragon Inn continually proves to be a popular retreat for those appreciating good food, fine wines and real ales. Set in the countryside for a relaxing experience and great walks from the door.On a fine day, sit outside amongst the honeysuckle and hanging baskets or on colder days relax by the log fires in our Oak beamed bars. Browse over our extensive menu and daily changing specials board, where our chef uses his creativity in producing “pub food with a difference"One of our special features of the pub is the ‘Mouse Bar’. The furniture and the bars themselves have been made by Robert Thompson, the famous ‘Mouse Man of Kilburn’ with small mice running all over the hand carved chairs, tables and mantelpiece! To complement the food there is a wine list notable for its range and value. We also have a good selection of fine ales; Hook Norton, Otter, Doom Bar and GL Cider. Nine comfortable bedrooms are individually furnished to a high standard, all with their own en-suite bathroom. The rooms are all doubles and twins, and extra beds for children can be provided if needed. In addition we have the St. George’s Suite and has its own sitting room. Also an ideal venue for weddings.

Another great accidental find, lucky to get in with no reservation quite late on a Friday evening but only had to wait a few minutes for a table. Being a very greedy couple, we had three courses and the puddings ( ice cream and banoffee pie ) were worth the very brave effort we had to make. The banoffee pie was the best I've had and I am a woman of some experience in this area. Pretty too, with a nicely crafted sugar sail. We'll be back.

We have been to this pub three times this year and the drive to get there is really worth the effort. For the first time we took friends last night and they were as happy with the service, food and ambience as we were - the menu is varied enough but not overwhelming with choices so its easy to decide and the cosiness combined with the friendliness of the staff has never faltered. So pleased we found this one.

On my way south from Cheltenham and it being about lunchtime, I saw a sign on the side of the road - to The Green Dragon Inn , took the turn, and about 300 yards , there it is. In a delightful and typically English setting a gloriously English pub. A Roux bros van was leaving, having delivered fresh fish ( a good sign, in my view !). Friendly staff ( and customers ! ) excellent real ales, a sort of unhurried pace prevails, and all the better for that. Lunch was more than adequate in the time available and I will try and pass that way again.
A quality establishment with " Olde Worlde" charm.
So, if you are passing the sign in the road , go there !

We had dinner in the Green Dragon with family at the weekend. It is a little out of the way but so worth it. The food was lovely. Cooked beautifully and very well presented. The staff were very efficient and service was excellent. Would definitely eat here again. Thought the prices were a little on the expensive side for a pub but having said that the food was very good.

I enjoyed the food here in the quiet location of outskirts of cheltenham very cosy open log fires on winter days and evening the food was so good especially the sunday roast i had as the vegetables were not over cooked like you get in most pubs . Staff were friendly and good selection of local Ales and wines . I recommend it to anyone who like s local produced foods and breeds of farm meats .
