Stayed at this B&B in July which from the outside has all the hallmarks of a lovely country pub retreat. However events took a downward decline upon our greeting from the landlord who was not very welcoming upon our arrival from France that morning.

We stayed in the family room (Agatha's) which housed a put me in up bed for my son, which as he sat on it - the bed collapsed.
The bathroom was far from clean with the previous occupants' soap residue all across the shower. Bathroom suite in itself was in poor state of repair, the cleaner the 1st morning barged into our room with new towels and offered no apologies for her rudeness.

What should have been a pleasant 4 night stay - turned into just two - as the central heating/water pipework banged and clanked all night which did not serve towards a resful nights sleep. We left on the 2nd morning and paid up.

The young girl listening to our complaints was very apologetic and very embarrassed, so to spare her blushes we did not rant and rave at her. The landlord was not available.

We then found alternative B&B accommodation further down the village which was both accommodating, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.

Both myself and my husband are very well travelled, and our expectations of this public house were founding wanting to say the least.

Would not recommend this B&B to anyone.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else !!

Nothing exceptional or extravegant to look at but a clean and characterful public house. Staff easy to set up a rappor with, but still efficient and hard working professionalism in abundance. Food fresh, local and well sourced. Compliments to the chef for such good meals. Good beers and wine- and we know what we like!!
Rooms were more than adequate, simple in decor, ensuite and very comfortable. No noise from the main road that runs infront of the pub if you have one of the rooms at the rear.
We were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary and being away without our girls for the first time ever. Couldn't have picked better location. 10 minute walk into Bourton, great company, great food and great banter. Thank you John and all the staff for a memorable weekend and for making us so welcome to your fantastic establishment. Sorry but you will be seeing us again!!

Room Tip: Rooms at rear of pub are quiet and comfortable. Any one walking around above the bar area could be h...

Room was fairly small but very comfortable, spotlessly clean and well maintained. Excellent breakfast! Friendly service. Very short walk to centre of Bourton which is a lovely place to stay. A good value traditional b and b in a nice traditional pub.

My wife and I stayed for 2 very enjoyable nights in July 2012 in room 5 which was small but adequate though we would have liked a bigger bathroom. The room was spotlessly clean and both the mattress and pillows very very comfortable.
The checking in and service in the bar by the young staff was excellent and the quality and choiuce of drinks on offer was also very good.
We had dinner in the bar on Saturday evening (make sure you book a table) and the quality and quantity was excellent and could not be faulted. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful and very good quality. The proprietor and his wife were excellent hosts and very good company.
We were disappointed that the restauarnat was closed Sunday evening and Monday so will stay in mid week next trip.

Room Tip: Book direct by phone for the best rooms.

I don't enjoy writing about poor experiences but I am compelled to warn others on my experience and service. This is truly one of kind and worst place I have ever been unfortunate to visit.
This groby place has no place in Burton on the water and is a disgrace to the hotel industry.
Myself and my wife popped in for a pint in this empty bar and the man who was covered in heavy gold like Mr T. It seemed we were troubling him from his newspaper and pint to be served and there were no pleasantries or thank yous or eye contact . We sat down and he disappeared to the toilet when 2 customers came in and to the bar and waited for him to return which took about 4 minutes. They ask for soft drink and one of the "local ales". They sat down and the customer complained of the cloudy pint and he replied its a new barrel and continued to read his paper and drink his pint.
The customers never finished their drink and left.
I am not sure who runs and owns this place but it is clear that jingle jangle pub landlord has no skills in hospitality and by the looks of him has been through the wars. Avoid.
