“Lavender Cottage is simply superb”
Reviewed September 29, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We loved every minute of our stay in Lavender Cottage feeling completely at home and well looked after from before we arrived. Hosts Hilary and Alistair give an exceptional level of pre arrival advice making the whole process of accessing the property and settling in easy. The attention to detail in anticipating guests needs and potential questions was remarkable, with really handy directions and instructions for appliances, menus and brochures for attractions in the area and even sharing their own tips for great eating places. Their kindness in providing some basic provisions...a loaf of fresh bread, cereal and milk and a yummy biscuits..was lovely. The cottage is beautifully situated, very nicely appointed and exceptionally comfortable. We have happily recommended Lavender Cottage to family and friends already. One tip: While parking can seem tight around the green if you arrive early in the afternoon, just find a pay and display park elsewhere until the day tourists leave, then it becomes much easier to place your car close to the property. Bourton on the Water is a lovely town and provides a great base for exploring some lovely villages in the Cotswolds.

Thanks for taking the time to post this lovely review of Lavender Cottage. I'm glad you found the booking process & arrival so easy. On the issue of parking, I'm afraid that one of our neighbours was having major renovations carried out while you were here, so there were tradesmen parked around the village green. This was an unusual situation & the following guests made the point that parking was easy, so I'm sorry you had a problem when you arrived. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for telling your family & friends about us.

Lavender cottage was just the place to relax in comfort while we explored the surrounding area .during our stay. Hillary went out of her way to make our stay as effortless as possible with a few provisions surplied and all fitted out with everything we needed.
Hubby and I had been travelling for 2 months and lavender cottage was a welcome retreat.

Reviewed September 5, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Two couples. Really appreciated the stylish facilities provided and the comfortable welcoming atmosphere. Cottage out of a picture book. Location easy walking distance to the village which has lots of shops and restaurants. Easy for self catering, Good fridge , washer dryer, all extremely clean and lots of books, DVDs, CDs, games if you want them. Alistair very obliging when we locked ourselves out! Highly recommended.

“Hospitality that exceeds all expectations!”
Reviewed September 4, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

3 friends and I stayed at Lavendar cottage over the weekend of the wilderness festival as wanted a comfortable place to stay to recover from the festivities.

Hilary and Alistair were incredible hosts, ensuring our every need was catered for - from picking us up from the station and dropping us at the festival, to stocking the kitchen with water, milk, tea, cookies and wine...to the supply of make up removers to assist with the inevitable glitter removal!!

The rooms were incredibly clean, comfortable and welcoming, and Hilary and Alistair were available for everything we needed. In summary, the house was beautiful and the Scott's are two do the most hospitable people you could ever hope for in a holiday cottage, and would 10/10 recommend to anyone!

“Lovely Cottage, lovely village, lovely restaurants”
Reviewed August 16, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Since the moment we booked I had the feeling this was going to be a nice few days away. The cottage is tucked away from the main street, but its just a minute's walk to the green. The cottage is very clean and has great charm. Hilary ,the owner kindly left a host of provisions as well as two very nice books for my children. We stayed for 3 nights and travelled to see Broadway, Moreton-in-The-Marsh and Chipping Camden on the one day, however we really did not feel the need to go outside of Bourton on any other day. This was what I call " an old fashioned holiday". My kids are 10 and 13, but they loved the maze, the motor museum, the treasure hunt and the model village. We ate dinner at L'anatra and The Rose tree both of which were excellent! We had lunch at the Bakery on The Water sat next to the river which again was great. This cottage will now become a "getaway"for us a few weekends per year as long as we can book it!! Just one minor negative point, is that the village is very busy at weekends, especially with good weather and people can leave a mess on the green etc. after their picnics. It does get quieter in the evenings however. Give it a try you will not be disappointed by a pretty English village and a beautiful little cottage!!

Thanks for sharing your experience of the cottage and the village. I'm pleased that your children embraced the old-fashioned charm. I'm sorry that you experienced a litter problem during your visit. The council & the locals are usually very good at collecting rubbish that people leave behind. We'll look forward to welcoming you again.
