Description: The Mousetrap Inn Restaurant is the heart of our traditional Cotswold Inn. We are open to non-residents all day, every day. We have a comprehensive daytime breakfast, brunch and lunch menu serving up everything from a full English breakfast to smashed avocado on toast to pub stalwarts like our very popular Mousetrap Burger. Our a la carte dinner menu comes into play at 6pm each day and of course we offer a superb Sunday lunch menu too. We source our ingredients locally wherever possible, using Cacklebean eggs, Jesse Smith Butchery, Kelmscott Country Pork, Sourdough Revolution bread & Coln Valley Smokery to name a few. We are a free house with a great selection of beers, ales and wines from nearby and further afield. We are passionate about coffee, running 3 coffee shops nearby and consequently we offer the highest quality Coffeesmith Coffee and have a comprehensive menu of loose leaf teas and organic tea blends, made by a herbalist especially for us. Parties, children & dogs welcome!

We'd had a couple of drinks sat outside the pub and on the evening we decided to eat there we couldn't because we hadn't booked! Anyhow, we got a late table. The young man waiting on was very friendly and polite and I can't fault any of it other than the chips were tasteless after the lovely chips we had had during the week elsewhere. I had a fillet steak and it was like slicing through butter - extremely tender, tasty and cooked perfectly.

The interior could really be stunning with some thought but it is clean and the food excellent, so shouldn't put you off making a visit!

My husband and I ate here twice during our visit in Bourton. Obviously for us to come back there must have been something good. And there is; the ale is kept well, a surprisingly well kept St. Emilion, good lamb and great bbq ribs. The thing that holds it back from an Excellent review in my opinion is the service. The daytime barmaid was friendly and helpful, and took our reservation for dinner that evening. We noted that we would be in late, close to 9PM when they stop serving, and she reserved a serving of lamb for me. So that worked out okay. But other than that 'John' who I only presume is the landlord/chef and the poor, untrained serving girl at night (my guess is a grand-daughter or something like that) created a very uneven atmosphere/experience. The funniest part was when the serving girl brought the unopened wine to our table (okay, that is good), but then left without opening it. Maybe we were supposed to have our own opener? When we got her attention, she was apologetic and said that only 'John' could open it, so she took it back to him where it was opened in the kitchen. It was also dreadfully hot and stuffy inside, on an evening that was not particularly hot. We asked if a window could be opened and 'John' said no. Well it is his place and he obviously has made a success of selling good products with very little cheer required from him or his evening staff.

My wife and I ate here on two consecutive nights. We enjoyed the first meal so much we came back and had another great meal.

Food is only available until 21:00 and booking may be required, particularly at the weekend.

The menu is fairly small but each of the four mains and deserts we sampled over the 2 visits were excellent. The lamb and steak just melted, the fish was fantastic and the beer and ale pie has completlyconverted my wife. All was served at a relaxed pace, giving plenty of time to enjoy the beers on offer. These were well kept, as should be expected at a pub that has been in the CAMRA guide for a good many years.

We went for lunch and the sandwiches were good. Not the most friendly atmosphere. We went for Dinner at 8:45 P.M. Nobody approached us (you order at the bar which we didn't know) and at 9:00 we went to the bar to order dinner. The proprietor then told us that the kitchen closes at 9:00 and we could not get dinner. We never got to taste the food, but who needs to spend their hard earned money with a rude Landlord.

Nice old world Inn. Great selection of real ales, mouth watering fillet. It was only about a 15min walk from Lark Rise our B&B, some of it along the riverside. Very busy with local people wich is always a good recommendation.
