Description: Our tea Room and Licensed Bistro is located adjacent to the River Windrush in the beautiful Cotswolds village of Bourton-on-the-Water which has been described as the 'Little Venice' of the Cotswolds and is one of the most popular tourist spots in the region. Famous for its cream, afternoon and celebration teas along with superb breakfasts, lunches, snacks, cakes, pastries and ice creams, The Chestnut Tree looks forward to welcoming you on your next visit. During the summer you can take tea on our private lawn adjacent to the river Windrush or maybe enjoy an ice cream or seasonal fruit from our take away kiosk.

I came here with my wife and baby on a trip to the cotswolds. Ate tasty scones and enjoyed the strong tea. The service was excellent and staff were very friendly. Will come back here again.

Are you certain it was the Chestnut Tree you visited?
Our baguettes are 10inches long and many people comment on the size and as to how they will manage to eat it all. Our bacon sandwiches are never served with less than two rashers and our salad garnish contains lettuce, cucumber, tomato, carrot, onion, peppers and cress. The scones are cooked fresh each morning.
As to your doubts over whether we respond to reviews , if you look on Trip Advisor you would see that we take time to read all comments and acknowledge them.
If you were unhappy with any aspect of your visit our staff would have been happy to deal with this at the time.

Slightly cramped indoors if there are a number of buggies. On the plus side, the customer service was great. Looked on while a member of staff took the time to fully explain the menu to a very elderly gentleman and ensured he was happy. Great to see!

We had dropped in for our lunch in this restaurant during our couple of hours or so short tour to Bourton on the water on 2 July 2012. This beautiful bistro has a great location at the centre of the village and offers great scenic view if you have a window seat. The interior decor was pleasant and the staff quite friendly. We had fish and chips which was quite tasty and fresh. The price was quite moderate with decent portion of servings. Enjoyed our food in a relaxed manner on a rainy day.
