“Dog Friendly hotel in centre of Bourton on the Water”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

We chose here because they allow dogs to stay in the annex. The hotel is very central, with welcome parking and a large garden to the rear which gives a bit of peace and quiet away from the tourists. The bar and dining room are cute cotswold chic, and the evening meal was fantastic, great to have a chef that makes an effort. Service was attentive during dinner and at breakfast. Breakfast was a cooked to order full english, and all was again exceptional. This is a small boutique hotel which makes the effort. If you want a break without the dogs, stay in the main house! All in all, highly recommended!

Room Tip: Dog friendly rooms are in the annex, the best rooms are in the main hotel.

We stayed for 1 night having booked through secret escapes paid £100 including breakfast, as we were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary we were upgraded to Room 2, the 4 Poster looking onto the main street, which was so very kind. A beautiful clean room with lovely large bathroom, furniture needed some TLC. Breakfast for me was poor. Had a Frittata which was rather bland. Hubby had full English which he enjoyed. Parking is great. Grounds to hotel are lovely. Having paid £100 I was happy. Wouldn't have been if I had paid more money.

Booked a short break away to celebrate Ann's birthday. Dial House was a perfect choice for location, being in the town centre & easy to get to. The hotel is small, clean, and the food is out of this world. Sadly, the negatives are that the bedrooms are small, with little room to move around. The en-suite was tiny, offering shower only, but with hardly room to turn around. In the public area the bar was tiny, with limited seating area. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but are unlikely to return. Space limitations lead to a less than perfect mark.

We stayed at the Dial House after booking that morning through Booking.com.
It is in the centre of Boughton on the Water close to everything so a perfect location. Check in was easy and our room was ready on arrival. We were complimentary upgraded to room 16 which was very quaint and full of character on the top floor.
In the evening we had a few drinks at the bar and the service was very good. We hadn't realised they had a hot tub outdoors so didn't have swimwear to use it but we took a look and it appears spacious and well worth a try. The garden is lovely too and appears well kept.
We slept very well and found the room to be clean and comfortable. There wasn't a bath in our room but the shower worked well.
Breakfast was good with smoked salmon on the menu. Check out was easy and staff were friendly and polite.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is in a great location for exploring. The bedroom was clean and comfortable although starting to show it's age and in need of a re fresh in a few areas.
Garden was great to sit out in, there is also a hot tub you can use and towel, robe and slippers are provided in your room.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall a pleasant stay.

This is a very pleasant small hotel, in an excellent situation just back from the main street of Bourton-on-the Water, the core of which is an attractive and historic building. Our room was well equipped and comfortable, the bed particularly so. It was only on arrival that we found the hotel's restaurant was closed for dinner for the week, an error on the part of the booking agency and not on the part of the hotel. The front of house manager, Simon, could not have gone to more trouble to ensure alternative arrangements were made for us at a nearby establishment at very short notice. And indeed throughout our stay the staff were friendly and efficient. We look forward to returning on another occasion.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the garden at the back are wonderfully quiet.

My daughter and I had two nights stay here. Beautiful setting, lovely gardens, excellent staff, Room small but comfortable with modern bath, shower etc. Tea and coffee in room. Large bed, wide window into garden. Lounge for tea or reading a book, sitting area in bar very comfy. Breakfast delicious and lots of it. We couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy our stay in the Cotswolds and the village on the river is wonderful.
