Having read some of the reviews here I opten for the Chester House for a stay in Bourton. I've been to the village a few times, so to be in a hotel that is right in the middle of things was great; for location you can't really argue. I do agree with other reviewers, in particular @CooperS2 who quite rightly pointed out that you should do a bit more digging when booking the rooms. Online they have an odd "better" or "best" room rating, which frankly doesn't really mean anything. We had room 12 and it was quite noisy as we could hear people downstairs which wasn't brilliant.
Having said that, for the price I don't think it's too bad. Some say it's overpriced but I disagree when you consider the location. We ate in the restaurant over the road (the hotel's restaurant) and it was good; not amazing but about right for the price.
Mostly the staff were excellent, and the breakfast was very good. When we checked out, they allowed us to leave the car in the car park all day and come back whenever we wanted which was a nice touch. I would go back but I'd make sure I knew what the other rooms were like first.More
