We stayed for three nights. Two adults and a 3yr old. What a brilliant hotel. Nothing was too much effort for any of the staff who looked after us all better than we could hope and all with a smile. The room iteself was ideal for us, plenty of room for us to relax in and a good bathroom that was easy for the little one to use. Being central to Bourton-on-the-Water is also a great advantage. The car park is a little tight if you have a big car, but if you get in there early then you are just fine. Breakfast was not fussy and offered enough variety, evening meals were very good, the steak I had was lovely and, again, the catering for a 3yr old was just right. Can't wait to return.

I took my wife here recently for the weekend as a surprise for our anniversary. Booked over the telephone and got great service there. For a extra fee the hotel will arrange chocolates, flowers and bubbles in your room at a price of your request. These were from local suppliers and of excellent quality. Overall the hotel is well appointed in a fantastic central location very close to the river. It is built form beautiful Cotswold stone and the decor is clean, modern and classy. Our Room (8) was graded 'the best' and was ground floor accessed off the very sunny gardens/decking area. It was large, very nicely decorated with a massive bed, and a very good sized bathroom. His and hers sinks. Huge bath with shower overhead. The shower took some working out but once sussed there was a plentiful supply of hot water everytime you wanted it.

Food - The hotel has it's own in house Itailian themed restaurant 'L'Anatra'. We ate here on one evening and the food was superb. Around 6 different options for each course were available and the flavours and presentation were lovely. If you would prefer something else the hotel also own the Croft Restaurant over the road - we didn't eat there so can't review but the feedback from other guests was great. Both these resturants are open to non-residents and I would strongly recomend booking at the time of making your reservation as they were both very popular. Breakfast was served in the in house restaurant, help yourself to cereals, juice, fruits etc and then your cooked breakfast is prepared to your liking. Lovely quality local produce and topped up with tea, coffee and lashings of toast.

We can also recomend the services of the therapies offered by the associate, Phoenix Rose Beauty mentioned on the hotels website. Bookings are made directly in advance and they will come to your room and provide the treatments. Very professional, relaxing and reasonably priced.

Overall I can't recomend this place enough, Donna and the team did a wonderful job, made us very welcome and we can't wait to visit again.

Room Tip: For a special treat have one of 'The Best' rooms.

We enjoyed a two-night stay here. The room was large, with enough space for a double and 2 twin beds (not cots). Bathroom nicely updated, albeit small. The staff were very helpful and overall a great place to stay in a cute little town.

This hotel is small but quaint and charming, the rooms are very well decorated and equipped. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The only slight negative is in our experience the breakfast was on the small side and was a bit disorganised but didn't effect the stay.
Bourton on the water is beautifully picturesque and can see how it gets the name" Little venice of the Cotswolds".
everything you need for a weekend stay is in one place would happily recommend this for a weekend break. loved it!!

We stayed at Chester House in June. We initially booked for two nights but felt so at home after the first night we decided to stay an extra night. We took great delight in the ranking system of rooms of best and better. We ended up staying in a better room which was extremely comfortable, well equipped, very generous in size and was tucked away at the rear of the hotel so was extremely quiet and had the most wonderful outlook from two largish windows.

As many other reviewers have said apart from the overall pleasant nature of the physical side of the hotel, it is the staff who make this a wonderful place to stay. You come away feeling that all who work at Chester House enjoy what they do and really do have their guests' interests at heart. Nothing was too much trouble and you couldn't help but end up with a smile on your face even though they had run out of their yellow ducks!

As well as this delightful establishment, Bourton-on-the-Water is a little slice of paradise in the Cotswolds. Set a date now to visit and make sure you book into Chester House even if they are still waiting for their delivery of ducks!

My son and I had dinner here tonight. It was lovely to be able to sit outside on the decking & enjoy the warm evening. The individual bottles of chilled Proscecco were very welcome! We ordered the traditional Bruschetta, Fish soup(main course) and Seafood Linguini. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of food & the price. The fish soup and pasta were both stuffed with tasty fresh seafood. The bruschetta too with anchovies were delicious!!
I'll certainly be bringing my friends back here and trying the take-away Pizza's.
