We did not stay at this hotel but ate here for Sunday lunch while visiting friends in the Cotswolds. I can say with total confidence that this is the best Sunday Roast I've had in years (sorry mum!)....
The food, drink and service was all excellent and the desserts are to die for!
The hotel/restaurant is decorated very well and is in a beautiful location and setting.

I will be back here and next time, I am hoping to stay at the hotel and take in some more of this beautiful place! ...If I'm lucky, I might even see "The ASBO Vicar" from TV :)

The many good reviews are well deserved. The hospitality on our "deal" - 1 night B & B plus cream tea on arrival, fabulous room, comes I suspect from the staff working as a team. Quality, style, service you could not fault, the tasty breakfast which set us up for our walk plus the location in the beautiful village of Bourton-On-The-Water - excellent. Our single beds were narrow and had I been with my husband a change of room would have been requested which I am certain would have been no problem at all. Good for exploring the Cotswolds. Have already recommended Chester House to family and friends.

Cant recommend this hotel enough for its style, comfort, service, ambience and location. All the staff delivered friendly efficient service, the public areas are extremely welcoming and "user friendly", our room was superb - like a cocoon of comfort. Eat at the Croft Restaurant - excellent dining experience and very reasonable.

Will definately stay there again.

My wife and I decided to get away from it all and leave the kids behind to celbrate her birthday. Our stay at the Chester House exceeded our expectations in terms of attentive service wihout being intrusive and clean, comfortable accommadation. Both nights we ate in the Croft Restaurant which is owned by the Hotel and is a 30 second stroll across the road. We would recommend booking, as it is also very popular with the locals!

The Breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection served plated to order. The bar may have lacked a huge variety but is very small and again, the service is first class.

I don't know what they are doing up there in the Cotswolds, but they have assembled an excellent team of young people who all seem committed and not at all work shy...

Well done Chester House!

Room Tip: It is worth spending the extra on an upgrade to a 'better' or 'best' room.

My wife and Istayed at Chester house for two nights 15/16 October. What a little gem of a find!!. From the moment we arrived the staff were cheerful, helpful and attentive and immediately made us feel at home and relaxed. After initially being shown to a twin (room 25), which was lovely, we were ofered a double (room 15) which was really excellent, with lots of space, a couch and hi n hers sinks in a great bathroom. well decorated and with all one would require in the way of comforts.
Breakfast all freshly prepared with local ingredients and good choice.
Lounge/ bar areas with sofas and newspapers to relax with. so convenient for the village, literally 20 strides from the river and with adjoining free parking (a real bonus).
Ate both nights in their adjacent restaurant, `the Croft`, which was excellent and fantastic value. Once again, great staff (who worked at the hotel as well) and a mothwatering menu using local produce. We do not usually eat at the same place twice, but this was well worth the exception. The hotel provides lots of useful local and free maps to use. Fantastic place for door to door walking. We did the 9 miles to Naunton, Upper and Lower Slaughter...............highly recommended and not at all tiring. Rather muddy for about a mile through the woods........but it has been a little damp recently!!. Special mention to the lovely lady on frontdesk who made us feel so welcome.(But all staff were top class and obviously well trained and happy in their work).
Stayed on a Kgb deal but would willingly have paid the rack rate. Will return. But where will the duck go inbetween times??.

Room Tip: Room 15 was lovely and very quiet but I would not think that any of the rooms would be sub standard...

My husband & I have just enjoyed 2 nights at this nice hotel. All the staff are lovely and friendly & the lady on reception was chatty and helpful. Ideally located in Bourton-on-the-Water, with an easy drive to other areas of The Cotswolds. The Croft restaurant provides nice food at reasonable prices, served by friendly staff who work very hard to please. We had a nice size room and it was clean, the ensuite was a bit small but sufficient. We don't understand the previous negative reviews and glad we didn't let them influence us, to stop us from staying here. As for the criticism about the small sausage at breakfast, well just ask for 2, my husband did and he said they were nice. It depends how much an individual eats surely?! The coffee was ok (not as bad as previous reviews have said) but again, if not happy, why not mention it so the staff can put it right, they were only too happy to please. Its easy to try to find fault wherever you stay if your own standards are high, but unless it is blatantly awful we would not give bad reviews when it is not called for. We met another couple in the reception checking out at the same time as us and they said how nice their stay had been too. Enough said. Thank you to all the staff and hope to see you again soon.

I stayed here with my Mum last week and cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome by the lovely lady on reception. A small issue with our booking request for a ground floor room was resolved immediately and a disabled access room was prepared for us rather than one which involved a flight of stairs. The room was gorgeous with an added bonus of a Chester House signature duck in the room! The furnishings were lovely and the beds as comfortable as any I have slept in. We had an afternoon cream tea in the hotel which was gorgeous and tasty and the breakfast was wonderful! All the staff were polite, helpful and provided superb customer service - thank you for making our visit so special............... We will be back! (hopefully very soon!)

Room Tip: Room 23 had a fully disabled access bathroom with separate shower and bath
