We have stayed at this hotel 4 times and everyday is awesome... We always book a suite as we love the hot tub... "Keets" it's fab a huge double bath & shower... We didn't do anything but relax this visit as it was my bday we have used the pool before...had a massage & used their restaurant.. Every stay has been memorable for us thank you ;-)
This stay though we did had a bit of broken glass on bottom of hot tub :-( so people need to be more careful when drinking outside.... Will defo be back again soon

We didnt actually book to stay here, but an error with a booking at one of the sister hotels mean't we ended up staying at Maison Talbooth instead.

This hotel deserves its title of the Best Hotel in Essex, with no doubt. The lack of form filling when we arrived and just being given our keys and taken to our room. The standard of our suite (the Keates suite) and the high level of customer service set this hotel way above other hotels in Essex (and much further afield).

Everything at the hotel is done to the highest level, but with the least amount of fuss and it works so well. We were shown our room in a very relaxed manner, it wasnt a sales pitch... it was an informal introduction. We were not hounded during our meals to see if everything was ok, did we want anything etc ... we were left to our own devices, but knew there was someone close by should we need anything (which we never did).

The facilities... the swimming pool, clubhouse, tennis court are all fantastic quality with the kind gesture of the honesty bar and tea area close by. It is so relaxed, if feels as though it is your home not a hotel. And with the layout of the Maison Talbooth you question whose cars are parked outside, because you barely see anyone else as you wander round the grounds and lounge.

We couldn't tell you what we loved more, as we loved it all.... the food, the jacuzzi, the room, the facilities, the location or the staff. And the spa, well that is 5* quality... and more!

We will definitely be returning, recommending and visiting the sister venues very soon.
Thank you

Room Tip: We would definitely recommend the Keates Suite, but I cannot imagine there is a bad room at the Mais...

I surprised my girlfriend on Valentine's Day with a night's stay at Maison Talbooth, just under an hour's drive away from our hometown of Brentwood.

The building itself is set in a great, rural location, with sweeping views across the Essex countryside. Upon arrival, we were politely greeted & offered assistance with our bags. No hanging around waiting to check in; we were shown straight to our room and left to our own devices, which was nice.

We stayed in 'Brooke' suite; which turned out to be a good choice - clean, and tastefully decorated with an open bathroom the size of the actual bedroom itself. I chose the room as a bit of a gamble, given that the website only shows 1 picture per room, and doesn't really do them justice (something which I would offer as some constructive criticism). The bed was comfortable, and there was a good selection of condiments too. The only drawbacks of note, in my opinion, were the noisy extractor fan, and lack of 'dimming' light in the bathroom, which if rectified, would greatly enhance bath time! For the girls, my girlfriend says it would be worth mentioning the lack of full length mirror in the room; another addition that would be welcomed.

We were impressed with the spa and restaurant down the road, Le Talbooth. The service in both were excellent, and the dinner menu was absolutely exceptional. Each course was the perfect portion size, and every mouthful simply delicious. My compliments to the kitchen, for sure! Breakfast in bed the following morning was of similarly good quality.

We didn't have the opportunity to use the pool house, hot tub or tennis court, given the atrocious British weather, but can see it would make for a nice afternoon activity in the summer months.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Maison Talbooth and would recommend it for couples looking for 1 nights' escape.

We stayed here on 23rd December for partner's surprise Christmas present. Stayed in the Shakespeare suite which includes a hot tub - fabulous. Dined at Le Talbooth - great atmosphere and excellent food. Courtesy lift to restaurant by staff at the hotel who can't do enough for you. Stunning views. Highly recommended. :-).

We visited Maison Talbooth last Sunday and took advantage of their Lazy Sundays offer.
Included in this were some spa treatments and a 3 course meal at Milsoms.
We were very happy to realise we had one of the best rooms in he hotel which included our own private hot tub!
The staff were as fantastic as alwaysand nothing was too much trouble.
Although it is expensive, you get what you pay for and this did work out very good value for money.
My husband had a fantastic birthday here and we will most definitely be returning!

Stayed here after eating a late lunch in Le Talbooth restaurant for our anniversary. The hotel is beautifully situated overlooking Dedham Vale. The grounds are lovely.

Staff were all incredibly attentive and friendly. Room service food was delivered exactly on time and was delicious (and very reasonably priced!). The garden room where we ate breakfast was pleasant and breakfast was tasty.

We stayed in Masefield room. It was large and well equipped. The bath was lovely and plenty big enough for two. The hot tub outside was a novelty as well. There were however a few gripes we had with the room. Firstly, there was a large patch of squashy peeling paint in the bathroom. This was very obvious on the wall and with rooms in this price bracket, was not acceptable. The grout in the shower was turning black in places. The bed was a zip and link type and both parts that made up the base were very slightly different heights. This meant you kind of rolled towards the middle of the bed if you were laying on the left hand side. The area outside where the hot tub was situated was neglected and a bit bleak. Furniture was stained out there and not neatly placed upon our arrival. It's a shame because those hot tubs could be a wonderful experience. With some soft planting and clever lighting, the area would be transformed. Finally and most disappointing was the heat in the room overnight. We stayed in December. It was cold outside but we actually slept with the outside door in the room open because the heat (despite our adjusting of the radiator) was stifling. It actually woke us both. I was so hot that I gave up on sleep in the end which was a real shame as we came away to get some well earned sleep.

I'd stay here again. However, the hotel could be absolutely fantastic with a few minor adjustments. If those happened then I'd not hesitate to recommend it and sample it more often!

11 of us stayed the weekend to celebrate a friend's surprise special birthday. This is a fantastic place to stay, it is not the first time some of us have stayed, but for those whose first time it was could not believe it. The rooms, the service and the food were amazing, nothing was too much trouble for the staff who all seemed happy in their jobs. They even opened the pool and had a log fire burning for all of us when we came back from having lunch at Milsom's. It is one birthday our friend Jen is never going to forget.

Thank you all for making the weekend so special for all of us, we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: We had rooms on the ground floor and they were all amazing.
