“Best pub food in the area”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

Enjoyed an extremely good lunch. The steak and stilton "pie of the day" was outstanding. Good sized portion of freshly battered and cooked cod was also excellent. Much better than traditional pub lunch.

“Classic Pub Grub, Good Beer in the Tucked Away Tuck Inn”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Having lived now in the area for a while, it was about time I tried out what is essentially my local, so having been there a couple of times in my opinion a little dated in its Decor but clean and pleasant which I would rather have than a loud and oppressive atmosphere. Quite a small pub in floor space but big enough to cater for couples or families wishing to find a good meal for reasonable price. if you choose carefully a good main course will be under a Tenner per head, but start adding a starter or include a dessert aswell and this will double to over twenty pounds plus depending how much a glutton you wish to be. So overall you can eat and drink in a relatively peaceful and mature setting, and a function hall above is available for Business or family functions so may be worth enquiring about. Plenty of parking available and apparently new management so maybe even better things to come, so top marks from me, room for some improvement I guess but generally I would not complain as more than satisfied with my first impression. Finally it reminded me of how Pubs used to be years ago, so maybe thats a good thing in todays World !

“ploughmans has shrunk”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

Stilton ploughmans greatly reduced in cheese size compared to a recent review. price still the same. A neighbour told me that his club had a christmas lunch but would not be going back.
Beer still very well kept Harveys, Spitfire and Hobgoblin.

“Beautiful - as ever!”

Forget Dover - we have 7 white cliffs and they're beautiful! you can appreciate them from the other hills but to get a better view - go down to sealevel (when it is safe!) and see their true majesty!

“Undercooked fish”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Typical pub food menu, but this is home cooking to remind you why you left home.

I had battered white fish that was cooked on top but when turned over bottom half was raw, the waitress had no idea what to do when we complained so we paid and left

Cook and staff in need of training but we won't be back to see if they improve
