The Landgate Bistro is at the top of historic Rye and is a quite small but light and pleasant restaurant. The food is British based on local produce and is very accomplished indeed. We both started with the local foraged wild mushrooms served on a slide of fried puffball. For main I had the local rabbit which was really excellent although the vegetarian main was fairly routine. Great Raspberry Mille-Feuille for desert and a very good cheese selection. Good wine list - we had an excellent Alsace wine. Their own bread was also very good.
The service was friendly although a little bit erratic.
Overall really enjoyed the experience and Rye is lucky to have a place like this
