This is a perfectly functional, no frills type of hotel. Situated in the centre of Rye, it's ideally placed to get access to the town and includes a decent sized car park (which is a big plus).

Our room was spacious and clean, and the staff were both friendly and professional. Cooked breakfasts seemed to be the order of the day - there was one slice of melon left by the time we arrived for breakfast (no more was available at all after that) and the croissants had seen better days (and again, none after the first day). However, cooked breakfasts were hot and plentiful.

No complaints - would happily go back.

Room Tip: Rooms 19 - 22 are on the second floor and quieter.

Stayed here for the Scallop festival in Feb. A lot cheaper than the twee, olde worlde hotels in town that upped their prices for the festival. Parking available , which is a must in Rye. Only a few mins walk across the bridge to town. Some rooms have river views if you require them.
Hotel staff, food and rooms were all acceptable with no complaints at all.
If you want a romantic , luvvy dovey weekend in a 4 poster bed and a roaring log fire downstairs then pay the inflated prices in the town and try to park.

If not stay here !

The hotel is relatively modern and not in the old part of town. However, it is less than 5 minutes' walk to the older parts of town. The parking is free which is a big plus.

Our room was clean and reasonably well-furnished. It was well heated which was a big bonus on a very cold weekend.

The restaurant menu is not extensive nor adventurous but the food we had was cooked well and the service was good. The full English breakfast was fine but it would have been nice to see a wider range of fruit on the buffet.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was a convenient location and servicable for the pupose but did not have any extra charm to it. Probably better in the Spring/Summer to be fair.
Had a very convenient car park which can be difficult in Rye and close to the charming town.

We read the reviews so we knew what to expect, the hotel was clean, warm, a little dated, staff were friendly and we enjoyed our stay. We paid extra for a room with a view which we feel was worth the extra £10. Car parking was good, the hotel was quite and had good blackout curtains.
The restaurant menu was not exciting enough for us to eat in but the town is a 5 minute walk with lots of choice. The breakfast was a serve yourself buffet style affair but had a nice choice of freshly cooked everything so one of us liked and one of us didn't.
There are more exciting places to stay in Rye we have gone away happy

Just stayed for one night in November, its a great hotel, basic but comfy and clean. Breakfast was well cooked and served in a nice restaurant. Rye is just a short walk away so its very conveniently located.

The River Haven Hotel is ideally situated 150 metres round the corner from the main streets going into the town. Some of the rooms could do with a little bit of an update, but the breakfast, parking and general location more than make up for that! The staff are very friendly and the hotel is to be thoroughly recommended.
