Description: The Plough is a quintessential English country pub with stunning views from our pond side garden over the Brede Valley with the sea as a backdrop. Situated on the Kent and East Sussex border and less than two miles from the medieval town of Rye, we enjoy a fantastic larder of local produce, from the freshest of fish landed in Rye and Hastings every day, to the wonderful delights from the Romney Marsh such as lamb and beef as well as the best of seasonal vegetables. With all this on our doorstep, we offer a good choice of local beers, ciders, wines and freshly prepared food, from our tapas, to our original choice of freshly prepared dishes and our homemade ice creams.

“Great Pub serving imaginative food and great local beer.”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

The views from the garden over the countryside are inspiring. The menu is imaginative and ingredients fresh, a breath of fresh air .
A traditional pub interior is in keeping with the country setting, you have to look out of The Plough as you meander through the village.
If you are looking for a place with a warm welcome the the man at the front of house Toby is sure to appeal. The man in the kitchen , Simon, has vision and drive to deliver value for money , a menu which is influenced by European cooking styles and is always looking for new ideas.

“Ideallicl country pub with fabulous chef”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

We found this place by chance one Sunday, the roast beef was delicious and the cook, who informed us he had recently taken over, was extremely friendly and hospitable, even though the place was packed he found time to welcome us. We returned next time we were in Rye and had another wonderful meal. I had porcini risotto, which was superb and my mother had the venison, which was excellent. We will be back, this newly run place is a real find and deserves to succeed. It's good value too and it seems like the produce is locally sourced. We are from London and very fussy, the quality of the food is impressive.

“Definately worth a visit - FAB”
Reviewed December 7, 2011

Great atmosphere - cosy fire and lovely local photography and artwork. Menu full of lovely food - gamey theme with local produce. Amazing chef producing very tasty food. We had a selection of tapas at the bar which was very good value and extremely delicious. Shared a main course and finished off with locally sourced home cooked puddings. Will be back regularly. Thoroughly recommended.
