“Very up to date. Close to everything. Historic town and area.”

This was a very nice place to stay. All amenities are available. The town is great to explore and there is a wonderful series of beaches close by for summer fun.

“Lovely town house well located for staying in Rye”
Reviewed April 11, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We were very pleased with this house which was within easy walking distance of Rye. The house was extremely clean and everything was provided for a very a very comfortable stay.
The property had secure parking for 3 cars and also a small garden and was situated within a safe gated community.

Rye is a charming little town with plenty of cafes and restaurants and also a very good deli.

Other places we visited nearby were Winchelsea, Battle, Bodium Castle, Camber Sands, Hastings and Romney Marsh.

“Simply perfect”
Reviewed March 24, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

Beautiful, comfortable and spotless accommodation a few minutes walk from the centre of Rye. Jacquie could not have been more thoughtful in setting us up for a week over Christmas-fabulous Xmas food and decorations(including a Xmas tree with lights!) awaited us and made us feel a little less homesick, and the accommodation itself was an absolute delight. Everything you might want- and more! Onsite parking (very rare in Rye)WiFi, DVDs,CDs,beautiful bathroom products, the most comfortable bed of our travels, a fabulous kitchen with everything possible and where we were easily able to cook our Xmas roast ( Jacquie had gone to enormous trouble to book us somewhere for Xmas lunch but we left our booking too late- but we much preferred our Xmas celebration in this beautiful home). Finding a special place to spend Xmas when we were first making our bookings from Australia had seemed a challenge, but we were so delighted to find Rye View, to see it was exactly as described on the website and are very grateful for all that Jacquie did to make our week there so lovely. We would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this beautiful place. Note there are stairs but they are wide and easy to use, even for those with creaky knees like one of us! Having 2 toilets on different levels limited over use of stairs.

“Faultless Property, Faultless Holiday...”

I came down with a quite extreme cough and cold right before the holiday. Owner Jacquie was more than accommodating in us arriving later in the week. I was still ill when we travelled but was determined to enjoy our time in Rye. The first thing you notice about the property is its homeliness. Short of being ill in my own home, this was the next best place to be ill! Luckily I perked up a few days later and was able to enjoy my time a lot more. The property, despite us visiting very close to out of season, was warm and exceptionally clean. Little notices dotted around the house gave us good tips on how to make the most of the house and to keep it nice for future guests. Even though it's a non-smoking property (much to my partner's delight but not mine) there's a nice and small back garden to nip down to for a puff (remembering of course to clear up the dog ends before leaving!). The kitchen was well enough equipped to cook our Sunday roast and the freebie scones, tea and jam were all much enjoyed. Bedding was perfectly clean and freshly laundered, as were towels. Shower gel was provided but not shampoo so take some with you. Being winter, and being ill, heating controlled as and when we needed was vital and this property didn't fail us. We used the washer/dryer during the stay and was very easy to programme and leave on, to dry, while we went out. Wifi worked well and was as fast as it is at home.

Sadly we didn't get further than Rye itself, due to illness, lack of transport and the bitter February wind (wrap up a lot warmer than we did - just because it's the "South" you shouldn't be fooled into imagining it's any less bitter in winter than the North). But we didn't let that spoil Rye for us. Beautiful town and we ate in several different establishments, all of which were lovely (Cafe Zara for breakfast, Jempson's for a mini pizza and hot chocolate!) and I could have spent a fortune in the Penny Royal (they had a Kath Kidston sale on!!).

We also visited the Ypres tower (the steps to the top weren't as steep as the £3 we were charged to walk them!! I should add that normally that £3 will get you entry into the museum too - but it's shut in the winter months and the price doesn't change) and St. Mary's church... both of which were very interesting in their own right.

We did, through desperation to get out of the cold, have a hot chocolate and a slice of cake at Simon the Pieman's tearoom - and 2 hot chocolates and a small slice of cake came to over £10! Go back down into town for better deals.

Also, beware that Jempson's supermarket (Budgeons) in Rye is SHUT on a Sunday and the nearest supermarket is on Sea Road, Winchelsea Beach (Co-Op) - a 6 mile round trip! We found this out to our detriment.

Overall, this was an excellent week, in spite of illness, and we plan on returning when the weather is warmer.

“Excellent Accomodation - great location.”
Reviewed February 22, 2013 for a stay in November 2012

Our main reason for visiting Rye in November was to see the Rye Fawkes Bonfire Celebrations. We had a great night, the atmosphere in the town was superb with thousands of people attending and the fireworks display was fabulous. We very much appreciated the fact that Jacquie, the owner of Rye View, emailed us after we had booked, to suggest the best viewing areas for the event, and it was good advice which made the experience all the more enjoyable. (It is so busy that you must get to your viewing point early on)

Rye View itself is a great place to stay in Rye. Close to the town, only a few minutes walk, and you are on the Strand Quay, with easy access to the rest of the town with its many pubs and restaurants - you are spoilt for choice in respect of places to eat and drink.

We were very impressed with the quality of the accomodation at Rye View. It is scrupulously clean, very well equipped and comfortable. Although we were lucky to have fine weather, it was November and chilly, and Rye View was a cosy, warm, welcoming place to return to after our outings. The free WiFi access is of very good quality (never dropping the WiFi connection like it does at home), and there is the parking, which is a big plus in this area. The standard of the furnishings and equipment in the house is very high, and the bed was very comfortable - we slept well throughout our stay. We didn't make use of the garden, but it would be a nice area to sit in good weather to enjoy a drink, or have a meal.

All in all, we were very happy with our choice and would recommend Rye View without hesitation. (Unlike some cottages we have rented over the years.)

A well appointed and comfortable house, well located. A most enjoyable week in a delightful part of England. Very good for bird watchers with bracing sea air to breathe and some excellent features of the town close by. Wonderful fresh fish and Rye Butchers sell spendid meat. Good vegetable stall at the open market and a regular farmers market.
