“Simply amazing!”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Where to begin?? We have just spent 4 days in Rye in very British weather. I had read reviews on this restaurant before we went but hadn't dared to hope that we might eat there as we had not booked in advance. On our first day in the town, pottering past in the pouring rain, the delightful lady owner noticed us perusing the menu and threw open her door and invited us in. We arranged to eat there on 22nd May - our last night of the mini-break - and it was a fantastic experience. The welcome, the food, the wine, the service, the ambience of the place; everything was simply divine. We were made to feel - and indeed so was everyone else - that we were the most important guests in the place - now that's talent! They even found some gluten free bread for my husband. I only wish we lived closer - but we'll definitely go back to Rye specifically to eat there again.

“Book ahead - or you will be disappointed”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

Consistency in a restaurant is everything especially when you expect something special. We are regulars, having first discovered the Tuscan when it first opened and have visited every couple of months since. I well remember the first visit with huge bowl of massive gamberoni and other seafood on linguini on the menu as 'seafood ragout'. The Italian-Rye fusion decor, the atmosphere and especially the food are absolutely first rate. Jenny and Franco treat everyone as if they are old friends visiting their home with whom they want to share their love of authentic Italian food and Jen expects that relationship reciprocated.
Dont miss the mixed antipasti, the monkfish kebabs are just wonderful and the Dexter steak on rocket with some truffle oil and parmesan shavings to die for. The Acantho Toscana is rich and just fruity enough if Jenny has some in. The Rye locals know how consistently good is this restaurant for quality and value. If you are visiting don't miss it for something special - but dont forget to book over a week ahead or you will be disappointed.

“One of the best italian restaurants - very impressive!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

After much waiting, we eventually managed to get through to the tuscan kitchen to reserve a table for dinner one night. And we could see exactly why they didn't have time to pick up their phones whilst the restaurant was open. It is a small restaurant run by a husband and wife. From what we could see, he ran the kitchen part of it and she dealt with the guests and the front. And what a team they made! She was very knowledgable bout the wines in particular and had hundreds of bottles all around the restaurant. I asked for something off the menu and it was absolutely delicious! One of the best italian restaurants I have been to.

“One of the 3 best restaurants in Rye”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

We enjoyed a fabulous meal with friends here one Saturday evening. The restaurant was full and early booked secured a table in the front section; a lovely old beamed room overlooking the cobbled street.

The only problem - selecting from the menu. I could have eaten everthing! The friendly Italian waiter helped with food and wine selection and added to the fun and atmosphere.

The food was beatifully cooked, tasty, nicely presented and generous portions. The wine was cracking too.

We will definately return.

“Birthday Treat”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Four of us enjoyed yet another fantastic meal at Tuscan Kitchen. Our two friends were amazed by the size of the veal cutlets - around the size of a T-bone steak. The filet steak and the rib-eye were up to their usual standard. These followed giant gamberini and other delicious starters. Well done Franco and Jen.
