Good value accommodation and food in a friendly atmosphere. Staff are friendly and like a bit of banter. Rooms are very well furnished for a pub b&b. The food is excellent value especially the carvery.

Group of 10 friends stayed for night for night out in Brighton.

Functional clean rooms, food basic, mainly carvery. Helpful hosts made sandwiches for us, for late lunch. Bit doorstep, but did the job.

Only choice at breakfast was English Breakfast, although they did make one of our party a bacon sandwich.

Basic hotel, but if you only need a bed for the night and don't mind the location ( on the side of a busy main road) then it is okay.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the back of the hotel away from main road.

You have to accept modern life as it is to appreciate this hotel which in no way compares with the bijou B & Bs offered by eg Laterooms, but if you have traversed the appalling, cloned High Street of Lewes, nothing could be worse. This is a large (what we used to call) roadhouse. It is surrounded by noisy roads (A27) with a fast train thrown in for good measure but the insulation is sound and I did not suffer from disturbed sleep. The management could not have been more friendly or welcoming. The room was spotless. There were enough teabags and little milks for a longish stay (other B & Bs take note). There was instant, piping hot water for baths etc (more distinguished establishments like the Caledonian in Edinburgh, take note). Wifi was instant and faultless (more distinguished establishments absolutely everywhere in Europe including 4/5 stars, take note)

There was good, basic food on offer: I am not a great fan of carveries but this one looked good and a large crowd of punters (on a Thursday evening) speaks for itself.

I would seek this place out again. I think this place is a winner and I wish its hardworking proprietors every success because their heart in in the right place and on the side of hospitality.

2 night stay on business. Chosen for proximity to Lewes and easy access to A27. Tidy enough place and efficient no nonsense check in. This place 'does what it says on the tin'. And for the price inclusive of a decent breakfast I'd stay again. Lewes is a short car journey away- you'd need to drive. Not flash, but ok.

My Mother and myself stayed here on 22nd March 2013 for 1 night after driving from Southampton, our bedroom was nice and clean and was lovely and warm ( as the UK has been suffering from freezing temperatures recently) it was a real bonus. We were going to go into Brighton to eat but as it was cold and raining and we were both tired we decided to eat at the Newmarket Inn, it was definitely well worth it staying, as the food was absolutely excellent. We had a lovely comfortable night in the beds, it was hard to get out of bed because of the comfort, we then had breakfast there this was also excellent. Could not fault the Newmarket Inn at all and David and his Mother (she's the Manager, sorry didn't get her name) were very friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 so we didn't suffer any noise what other people have mentioned on this site.

Have been away from the UK for a few years and stopped at the carvery for a meal. I expected a reasonable good value meal for this establishment. The decor looked tired, the staff looked tired and the food was not cheap. The chef was an expert at cutting meat paper thin and liked to prove this to every customer - obviously he wants the meat joints to last all week. When asking for more he muttered and ignored me. The vegetables were tasty, which was good as you needed them. The desert was school dinner passable - I wouldn't rush back!

The staff were fantastic, it was like being looked after by my mum.(Cath) Nothing was too much trouble, for instance I arrived late and was able to arrange this by telephone late in the evening..no problem at all. The breakfasts were fantastic and overall quality of all food was excellent. The room too was clean and we had no complaints whatsoever. Everybody seems to complain about the A27..yes of course there is some noise, but you soon get used to it and anyway it reduces significantly at night and I had no trouble sleeping at all. The upside is that you can get to Brighton or Lewes very quickly. All in all a great stay and I will gladly return at the next opportunity and meet up with Cath and Dave to be pampered again.

Nothing!
