It is a beautiful place to go and stay for a while. The café there has a short menu, but if you are happy with a short selection of beverages, cakes and ice-creams you will be fine.

This garden in the middle of Lewes is a place of rest and a meeting place. Different in every season, well kept, we always enjoy it walking through or sitting there and having a glass of wine.

A truly idyllic spot in the County town of Lewes, The Southover Grange Gardens is found in Southover High Street. Open until dusk, with closing time conveniently displayed on a clock, these Gardens are often overlooked by visitors who are missing a real gem. The House itself has a wonderful history too, although is not open to visitors, but as it is the Office of the Registrar bridal parties are often seen. I have been a frequent visitor over the years and always delight in the Spring and Summer planting and in the Winter months the Winterbourne Stream which cuts the Gardens in two will rush through. On my most recent visit, October, the pampas grass were glorious and the large magnolia tree still had flowers on. The mulberry tree is, I understand, mentioned in the Domesday book and still bears fruit! I call the Knot Garden "The Secret Garden" and love to spend time in there. Time passes slowly in here...I always come out feeling refreshed!
