After visiting this pub when our daughter was a babe in arms around a year ago, we thought it would be a good place to have lunch with our now 19 month old and my husband's parents. Things started off well, but when our daughter got fed up (as toddlers do), the landlord (within our earshot) told someone to put the jukebox on. We raised this with bar staff who said our daughter had been screaming throughout our visit and had gotten behind the bar - both untrue. We spent £70 in total on what was quite good food, but left feeling angry and disappointed. We will never visit this pub again and urge other parents to boycott.

Thank you for your interpretation of events on sat midday,i would like to point out that you and the rest of your family seemed to have had no consideration for the rest of the customers that were sitting close by,who were complaining to me about your child screeming at the top of her voice.i did offer you a high chair which you refused and your child did go to the bottom of the stairs which is the exit for the waitresses to come down with the food ,this could have been quite dangerous.Your mother inlaw at one stage led the child around the front of the bar by her fingers and then allowed her to climb along the windowsill which she fell off of which started her off again, your mother inlaw took two glasses of beer off of the table and put them on the bar which belonged to two customers who were outside smoking ,you must realise that a public house is not a playground,we have an open fireplace and tables with glasses on.We are very much a child and dog friendly pub but we expect parents and owners to keep them under control.

Pub was full of the owners friends and family on New Years Eve. Myself and the people on the table next to us put a fair bit of money in the jukebox but because one of the owners friends didn't want to listen to our choice of music it was fast forwarded onto her song. No explanation or refund was offered or given. Very poor........

What a great find on a wet and windy day. We almost went in the pub opposite, but they had photos of food in their window (never a good sign), so we went in the Anchor instead. Got a warm welcome and even a biscuit for our dog who was also welcome.
I had steak and kidney pie and partner had cottage pie, quite a long wait, but we weren't in a hurry and wow it was well worth the wait. Last time I had steak and kidney pie that good my mum made it! Great value for money too. I'll be back if I'm ever in Hastings again.

the anchor inn is not much of a pub inside,i was greeted by a young man behind the bar also a dog sitting on a stool behind the bar,it barked at the odd people that came in,it seemed to like familys or couples,it was very busy food wise all tables were taken, the beer was good and the staff friendly, seating outside, well worth a visit.
